Although there were some teases done by Grinding Gear Games for Path of Exile 2‘s 0.2.0 patch coming next week, they were few and far between, and players didn’t have a clear idea about the true size and scope of the update. Titled Dawn of the Hunt, Path of Exile 2‘s new April 2 release will add a ton of content to the game as well as make a plethora of changes to its current systems, such as the endgame loop. With a new class on its way in the form of Huntress, as well as five new Ascendancies, it may seem hard to predict the best pick for 0.2.0, and yet, it’s already clear.
It’s quite likely that many players will gravitate toward the Huntress class in Dawn of the Hunt, both because it’s the only new base class in the update and because it pairs perfectly with the theme of the hunt for ancient spirits. Path of Exile 2‘s Huntress stealing the show is to be expected in some shape or form, and while the new spear skills have yet to be tested, there is one Ascendancy that will most likely become so powerful that GGG may have to nerf it further down the line.

Why Path of Exile 2’s Huntress and Ritualist Are Going to Be OP
Path of Exile 2‘s Ritualist Ascendancy for the Huntress is most likely OP from the get-go, and that’s just with its base nodes. The reason is that it has two specific nodes that will benefit any endgame build and make them much stronger. These are:
- Unfurled Finger: +1 Ring Slot
- Mystic Attunement: 25% increased bonuses gained from Equipped Rings and Amulets
Rings in Path of Exile 2 can be extremely powerful, providing players with a lot of Item Rarity, Life, Mana, Resistances, and even damage. As such, unlocking a third ring slot while simultaneously making all three rings 25% more effective is incredibly hard to pass up.
Picking the Ritualist doesn’t mean players are forced to use spear skills, and extra rings work on any build.
For example, Path of Exile 2‘s Ingenuity Unique belt is a valued item that is often used in meta builds in the current state of the game. Even if it’s currently not too hard to obtain nor very expensive compared to other chase items like Astramentis, Ingenuity is incredibly strong because it provides players with 40-to-80% increased bonuses from Equipped Rings, the same stat available to the Ritualist. A good pair of rings can make Ingenuity invaluable, so having the opportunity to not only have a third ring but also enhance all three (with amulets, too) makes the Ritualist just too strong.
Between the Huntress being the new thing added to the game and the Ritualist being absurdly powerful in the endgame, it seems plausible that a lot of players will use this Ascendancy in Path of Exile 2‘s new update. On top of that, the small node leading to Mystic Attunement gives players 3% increased Attributes, which could be even stronger if stat-stacking is not nerfed into the ground as a mechanic.
How Path of Exile 2’s 0.2.0 Update May Affect The Ritualist Ascendancy
There are some caveats to picking the Ritualist, though. For starters, there is a chance that Ingenuity will either be nerfed in terms of its effect or in terms of drop rates, if not changed entirely. This Ascendancy would turn Ingenuity into a gold mine, potentially getting players to 100% increased effect of rings or higher, and it’s unlikely that GGG will let that OP interaction slide. Furthermore, the patch notes for Path of Exile 2‘s Dawn of the Hunt haven’t been released yet, and many meta builds may take a hit. For the Ritualist, this could be bad if Herald of Thunder and Ice are nerfed, but it remains to be seen. Right now, this seems like the single most powerful Ascendancy in the game once players can gear up a bit.
