My Hero Academia has one of the most fascinating power systems in the shōnen action genre. The anime’s powers are called Quirks, superhuman abilities that allow people to do incredible and bizarre things. While the main series has introduced many powerful ones, the same can be said about My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.

This critically acclaimed spin-off/prequel has also featured many potent quirks that are used by the heroes, the villains, and the titular vigilantes. Many of them are original to this new story, while many others were recycled from the main series, but were given a completely new perspective. Regardless of their origin, the following quirks are the most powerful ones in Vigilantes.

Cloud

Oboro Shirakumo (Loud Cloud)

• First Appearance: Chapter 59 (Vigilantes)

The quirk simply known as Cloud is the perfect example of how even the simplest superpower can be very effective if it’s used correctly by an intelligent user. This was the signature quirk of Oboro Shirakumo, Shota Aizawa’s childhood friend, who stars in an exciting but emotional flashback sequence.

As the quirk’s name implies, Cloud allows Shirakumo to generate and manipulate various clouds, which he can use to hinder his opponent’s vision, block strong attacks, and even fly around at high speeds. It’s a simple but extremely practical quirk. All for One must have realized this, since he utilized Cloud as the basis for Warp Gate when he turned Shirakumo into the Nomu named Kurogiri.

Queen Bee

Kuin Hachisuka And Bee☆Pop

• First Appearance: Chapter 5 (Vigilantes)

There’s no denying that Queen Bee is one of the most bizarre yet fascinating quirks in the world of My Hero Academia. Not only does it take the form of a swarm of living bee parasites that share a hive mind, but its original user is an actual bee named Kuin Hachisuka, who can use its power to possess the bodies of different people and gain control over them.

The main strength of Queen Bee is its innate ability to use the bees to transport and administer substances around a designated area, like the Trigger drug. It can even copy another person’s quirk just by obtaining a small sample from them. Of course, there’s also its strongest technique, the Bomb Bees, which can turn a huge swarm of bees into powerful flying explosives. When Queen Bee possessed Pop☆Step and became the villain known as Bee☆Pop, the Bomb Bees were her preferred method of attacking.

Bombify / Self-Detonation

Number 6 And The Bombers

• First Appearance: Chapter 57 / Chapter 46 (Vigilantes)

Number 6 is the main antagonist of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, so it is no surprise that he can use multiple powerful quirks at the same time (which were all given to him by All for One). One of these dangerous superpowers is Bombify, which allows him to mutate his own body by using Bomber cells and grow biological bombs.

But that only generates the explosive, so Number 6 needs a separate quirk to make them explode. That is Self-Detonation. This is yet another simple power that allows its user to detonate themselves in order to create destructive explosions. With the combination of Bombify and Self-Detonation, Number 6 can detonate his own limbs, regenerate them, and keep creating even more bombs.

Flight

Christopher Skyline (Captain Celebrity)

• First Appearance: Chapter 14 (Vigilantes)

At first glance, Flight seems like a generic superpower straight from a western comic book, as it gives its user, Captain Celebrity, the ability to fly around at high speeds. This is no doubt a useful power, but it’s also quite a boring one, especially when compared to all the other unusual quirks in both My Hero Academia and Vigilantes.

But in reality, Flight works by creating an aerodynamic barrier around Captain Celebrity. This not only allows him to fly, but it also grants him superhuman strength while protecting him from heat, cold and physical damage. The best part is that he can choose to apply this barrier to other people in order to transport them around and/or protect them from harm. Because of this, Flight is a surprisingly complex and versatile quirk, and it explains how Captain Celebrity managed to become one of the United States’ strongest heroes.

Slide And Glide

Koichi Haimawari (The Crawler / The Skycrawler)

• First Appearance: Chapter 1 (Vigilantes)

Something that sets My Hero Academia apart from other action shōnen series is that its quirks can actually grow and evolve when trained consistently and correctly. There isn’t a better example of this phenomenon than Slide and Glide, the quirk of Koichi Haimawari, the main character of Vigilantes.

Back when it was first introduced, it only allowed him to slide around on the ground at medium speed, which wasn’t very impressive. But Koichi kept training his quirk throughout the story, which helped him realize his true potential and unlock many practical uses for it, like clinging to walls, shooting small repulsion blasts, and even flying. This is because Slide and Glide actually allows him to generate attractive and repulsive forces from his hands and feet. This superpower was perfectly showcased at the end of the story when Koichi unlocked his Ultimate Move: Knuckle Style, which he uses to generate four repulsion fields on his knuckles and hit his opponent with an explosive punch.

Overclock

Iwao Oguro (O’Clock) And Number 6

• First Appearance: Chapter 26 (Vigilantes)

Many prominent Pro Heroes in the world of My Hero Academia are obviously based on classic American superheroes, like Batman, Superman, or Spider-Man. But, for the longest time, this franchise lacked a proper analog for the Flash, until the High-Speed Hero: O’Clock was introduced in Vigilantes, alongside his incredible quirk, Overlock.

This superhuman ability allows Iwao Oguro to stimulate his brain and accelerate his entire body at extremely high speeds, to the point that it looks like everything around him isn’t even moving. But Overclock’s most convenient characteristic is that it heightens its user’s senses and accelerates the growth of the cells inside his body. Because of all these crucial factors, this quirk had an important role within the story of Vigilantes. All for One stole it from Oguro in the past and gave it to the villainous Number Six, who effectively combined it with all of his other powerful quirks.

Hellflame

Enji Todoroki (Endeavor)

• First Appearance: Chapter 28 (My Hero Academia)

Every My Hero Academia fan knows that Endeavor is one of the most powerful and controversial characters in the entire franchise. Curiously enough, he also makes a special appearance in Vigilantes. Since this spin-off takes place a few years before the start of the main story, readers get to see a more violent and ruthless version of Japan’s #2 Pro Hero.

Endeavor’s destructive Hellflame quirk allows him to generate and control powerful flames. As always, Endeavor made excellent use of it in Vigilantes, especially since this is where he showcased some incredible never-before-seen Ultimate Moves, like Hellfire Storm and Hell Minefield. Of course, with his raw firepower, he managed to defeat many powerful villains, proving how he had earned his prestigious ranking and his intimidating reputation.

One For All

Toshinori Yagi (All Might)

• First Appearance: Chapter 1 (My Hero Academia)

There’s no denying that All Might is the strongest hero in My Hero Academia, which explains why he became the #1 Pro Hero of Japan and the Symbol of Peace. However, since he passed his One For All quirk on to Izuku Midoriya in the main story, fans could only witness him using it for one or two exciting battles before he lost every last ember of it.

Fortunately, this was somewhat rectified in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. The story features a slightly younger version of All Might, from a few years before he met Deku. Of course, this means that no other quirk in this spin-off is nowhere near as powerful as All For One. It gives All Might incredible physical strength that he often uses to defeat multiple enemies at once and all by himself. He’s obviously the strongest character in the entire story and, as a result, many arcs revolved around him not being present, so the other heroes (and the vigilantes) had to defeat the villains without him.
