Life simulator InZOI passes Hollow Knight: Silksong on the Steam charts as it gears up for its early access release in late March.
That’s what one player going by Twenty-One-Asteroids on Reddit used to bring their cat into InZOI. While cats have appeared in InZOI promotional material since the game was first revealed to the public, this particular cat is a bit more static. The InZOI 3D printing feature can’t create NPCs from what it prints, so instead, the cat has been rendered as a solid object that can be placed wherever the player likes. A closer look reveals that the 3D printing feature did a good job of getting the details of the cat’s likeness into the game, but due to the way it’s rendered, it looks like a cat-shaped pillow with the cat’s image printed onto it.
InZoi Fans are Enthusiastic About New Print Feature
Although the print feature isn’t exactly perfect, what it’s capable of doing from a single photograph has tremendously impressed the fandom. Gamers responding to Twenty-One-Asteroids’ cat post were amused and charmed by the cat’s in-game likeness, and one shared their own attempts to print their cats. While the game will likely do a better job of printing solid objects than animals, many seem to be plenty happy to just have their favorite pets represented in the game. It’s one of the unique features that’s been made available in InZOI that players are excited over. Another such instance includes the InZOI face motion capture system, which lets players map their own facial expressions onto their Zoi.
With InZOI finally about to launch, it will become clearer soon whether all these new abilities and the graphical fidelity of the game will allow it to truly compete with life sim giant The Sims 4. EA has largely dominated the market with its franchise for decades now, and while The Sims 4 still has tons of fans, many seem interested in seeing what another game developer can do with a similar concept. It’s likely that InZOI won’t appeal to everyone who enjoys The Sims, but it may also attract some players who prefer the visual style of InZOI over The Sims‘ stylized graphics and the extra features InZOI brings to the table.
