Atomfall: Bunker Location Guide

Bunkers hide useful gear and Training Serums in Atomfall, but they’re often well-hidden.

Atomfall’s radio towers are a key part of one specific storyline. If you’re working toward unlocking Joyce Tanner’s ending, you’ll need to visit and activate all three towers. This guide has everything you need to know to make it happen

How To Unlock The Radio Towers

Joyce Tanner introduces herself inside data store charline in the Interchange in Atomfall.

The only one in the Quarantine Zone who knows how to unlock the radio towers is Joyce Tanner, and she needs access to the Interchange in order to do so. Go to the Interchange from either Wyndham Village or Casterfell Woods, and use an Atomic Battery to power up Data Store C. Leave the Interchange, then come back; Joyce will be waiting for you on the top floor of Data Store C.

Agree to work with Joyce, and she’ll remotely unlock the radio towers in Casterfell Woods, Slatten Dale, and Skethermoor, allowing you to reach the control panels inside.

All Radio Tower Locations

Coordinates

Casterfell Woods

24.8E, 89.3N

Skethermoor

43.1E, 73.6N

Slatten Dale

31.0E, 75.0N

Once you enter a radio tower, you’ll need to find its keycard to actually power up its console. Luckily, each has a note saying where the keycard was last seen.

How To Find The Casterfell Woods Radio Tower Keycard

The keycard to activate Casterfell Woods’ radio tower is in Bunker L9, below the dam in the northwest. The coordinates of the entrance are 23.3E, 90.6N. The area is fenced off, but you can squeeze through small gaps in the fence to get inside, then unlock the gate from within.

You can also go through the gas-filled tunnel across from the entrance to the Dam Data Store, but it’s not usually worth the damage you’ll take unless you really don’t want to sneak past the Ferals beyond the fence.

The inside of Bunker L9 is crawling with Ferals; again, you’ll have to either deal with them or brave poison gas to get the keycard.

Avoiding The Ferals

To avoid the Ferals, go through the vent to the left and make your way to the office above the entrance. Drink an Antidote to increase your Poison Resistance, then run into the office and grab the keycard from the desk on the right. The longer you stay, the more damage you take, so be quick.

How To Activate The Vents

If you have a Signal Redirector and don’t mind fighting the Ferals, go ahead to the main room and take an immediate right. The Feral behind the crate will wake up and try to spit spores at you, and the ruckus will likely attract the rest of the pack.

Once the Ferals are all dealt with, continue clockwise around to the room with the vent controls. You can use the Signal Redirector through the wall to switch the Junction Box, or go around and through the hole in the wall outside to get eyes on it directly. Once the box is switched, turn on the vents to drain the poison gas from the office, then go upstairs and get the keycard.

Climb through the office window onto the catwalk over the warehouse to find a briefcase with the Combat Stim crafting recipe inside.

How To Get The Skethermoor Radio Tower Keycard

The note inside Skethermoor’s radio tower indicates that the keycard has been taken to “the nearby bunker.” It refers to the Vehicle Depot Bunker, a short walk to the east. The main entrance is covered in rubble, so you’ll need to use the secondary entrance up the hill to the northwest, at 43.4E, 74.6N.

Outlaws patrol the ruined greenhouses near the main entrance. While they don’t usually go up the hill, there’s a possibility that they’ll see you from below and close in.

The bunker is also occupied by Outlaws, and most of them have guns. Use the cover at the top of the stairs when entering the main room to fire back at them, and throw a grenade when they group together. If they close to melee range, fall back to the entryway if necessary.

Once the bunker is cleared, go to the room at the rear left, under the stairs. Crawl through the hole in the wall and climb the crates that you find. At the top, crawl through a vent in the floor on your right to reach the locked office at the top of the stairs. The keycard is on the large square of desks in the center of the room, and there’s a Nail Bomb Recipe tacked to the far wall.

How To Get The Slatten Dale Radio Tower Keycard

The radio tower in Slatten Dale is in Outlaw territory, specifically in the camp they have outside the northern entrance to the Slate Mine Caves. This can actually be advantageous, as it means you can reach the tower by going through the caves, then going right once you’re back outside. Doing so avoids all the Outlaws in the area unless you’re extremely unlucky and one happens to be walking by.

To get the keycard, though, you’ll need to risk being spotted; it’s in the quarry below the radio tower, and Outlaws patrol the area regularly. If you aren’t in a hurry, it can be a good idea to try cleaning the area before going into the quarry so that enemies can’t shoot at you from above.

Also stay out of the water as much as you can while in the quarry, as it’s infested with vicious lampreys that will damage you and inflict the Bleeding status effect if you linger too long.

At the bottom of the quarry, look for a cave in the eastern wall; you can either climb the flat rocks on the right or simply walk up the fallen steel scaffolding to reach it. Inside, there’s a wooden barricade along the left hand wall toward the back; crawl through the hole in it to find a dead scientist with the keycard.

What To Do With The Radio Towers

joyce thanks the player before boarding her helicopter at the end of atomfall.

Once you’ve gotten the keycard for each radio tower, return to the tower and use it to power the console. Joyce will confirm that the tower is online over the speaker. When all three radio towers are active, a mysterious broadcast will go out over the Quarantine Zone. If you’ve been exploring and paying attention to the notes you’ve been finding, you may recognize at least one of the code words included in the message.

Return to Joyce at Data Store Charlie, and she’ll give you the final mission of her storyline; extract a core sample from Oberon, then blow up the dig site. Following her instructions, then meeting her for extraction in Casterfell Woods, will unlock her ending and get you the Emergency Extraction Achievement / Trophy.

If you’ve activated the Dam Data Store, Joyce will require that you copy the data with command GEN MOVE and bring her the Top Secret Tape. If you refuse to hand it over, or delete the data before copying, you’ll be locked out from seeing Joyce’s ending even if you’ve otherwise cooperated with her.
