Japan’s Loss at Jeju Island

A Seemingly Strong Alliance

The threat of the monstrous ants at Jeju Island was something that South Korea once failed to overcome. Realizing their lack of strength, they gave up on retaking the island. But as time went on, the ants evolved and became capable of flight, making the raid no longer avoidable. Japan stepped in to aid South Korea and offered 10 of its finest S-Rank Hunters to fight the common enemy. With a total of 16 S-Rank Hunters, the impossible task now seemed possible.

Japan’s Schemes

The events on the Island revealed Japan’s secret objective. While they truly wanted to end the threat of the ants, it also covered their plans to use the South Korean force to their advantage. The Japanese Hunters planned the Raid in such a way that the danger they faced would be minimal. They wanted South Korean Hunters to deal with the majority of the danger and take the credit for themselves. If things went south, they were willing to abandon the South Korean Hunters.

Japan Took the Greater Hit

Things were going as planned till the Ant King’s appearance. The overwhelmingly strong foe killed numerous Japanese Hunters in an instant. Despite their losses, the Japanese Hunters continued with their schemes. But they took a major hit when they lost their leader, Goto Ryuji. With more than half of their forces perished, they decided to abandon the South Korean Hunters and re-hit the weakened enemy with reinforcements later.

Jin-Woo Denied Japan’s Schemes Completely

If Jin-Woo had not teleported to Jeju Island, the Ant King would surely have killed the South Korean Hunters. The remaining S-Rank Japanese Hunters would have attacked the island again with reinforcements from Japan and South Korea and took credit for completing the raid. But Jin-Woo appeared and single-handedly dealt with the danger at Jeju Island and also saved his comrades.

How Badly Will the Jeju Raid Affect Japan?

Japan has lost 7 S-Rank Hunters, which greatly decreases their defenses. Also, the country’s leading guild has lost its leader and strongest member, making it infinitely weaker. Moving forward, if the country faces great danger, it will have to heavily rely on other countries for help. Furthermore, if Japan’s schemes are ever disclosed, they’ll lose the other nation’s trust and support.
