Minecraft: The Most Useful Items, Ranked
We take a look at the best and most useful items you can find in Minecraft, from the humble shovel to the respawn anchor.
Minecraft has always been one of the most iconic games for speedrunning. With a constantly evolving community driving excitement and reaching new breakthroughs every year, it’s clear to see why. For those looking to join in on this fast-paced way to enjoy the game, there is one thing you must consider before anything; the world seed.
There are two things to keep in mind about these seeds. First, these are all for the Any Percent Set Seed category of Java Edition and second, these seeds are often version specific, so make sure to check what version is listed, as the world will likely only generate correctly in that version.
10
Snowy Speed And A Glitched Portal (1.21)
Seed: -8724539567136308488
This seed will take you on a snowy trip to a cold village very close to spawn. By crafting a boat and sailing to these coordinates (291, 63, -829) you can stumble upon a snowy village which contains a blacksmith and many beds for you to steal. This quick trip doesn’t last long as you can now leave and head to the nearby Stronghold.
What awaits you at the coordinates of (83, -9, -1610) is a glitched End portal, which can be instantly entered. Make sure to steal atleast five beds from the village to kill the Dragon with ease. If you worry about doing the bed method and want to get better gear, there is also a Trial Chamber right next to it at around (170, 19, -1598) to loot to your hearts’ content. Just don’t forget about that speedrun!
9
The Village Pool (1.21)
Seed: 281475037711136
This amazingly lucky seed starts you instantly inside a taiga village that contains a whopping three blacksmith buildings. The best part, however, is there is also a lava pool with some gravel right next to the village for you to make a free Nether portal using the bucket method.
Once in the Nether, make your way over to the nearby buried Fortress at (-320, 60, 278) to barter with some Piglins and obtain the Blaze Rods to craft the 12 Eyes of Ender you will need. Digging straight down to these coordinates (-543, 11, 1588) or using a portal in through the Nether will take you straight into the portal room and, with the beds you took from the starter village, the Ender Dragon will go down in seconds.
8
The Hidden Treasure (1.16.1)
Seed: 8722833245086318634
Diving on into this world, you will be handed a treasure trove of iron within the first ten seconds. A buried treasure awaits at (-39, 43, 185), which will give you an astounding 16 iron, three gold, two diamonds and two TNT. Using a boat, you can make your way over to (-55, 11, 284) where an underwater lava pool awaits for you to dash into the Nether.
Once on the other side, you can dig up to find a nearby Bastion to trade with the Piglins and obtain a ton of loot. To reach the Stronghold, you can create a portal in the Nether using the Obsidian found in the Bastion, at (-21, 38, 182). Once you reach the portal, make sure you have atleast 11 Eyes of Ender to activate the portal.
7
The Quadruple Buried Fortune (1.21)
Seed: -1033926557
This seed is a great seed for practice runs as it’s quite accessible. Spawning in, you may be able to notice a nearby village, but before heading there you can plan a route to pass by any of the four nearby buried treasure chests. Then, after visiting the village, you can head over to the coordinates (257, 63, 42), where there is a lava pool to create a Nether portal.
The four buried treasure chests can be found at these coordinates:
Chest One – (121, 64, 169) Contains 13 iron and 11 gold ingots.
Chest Two – (425, 66, -23) Contains eight iron, two gold, a diamond and an Iron Sword.
Chest Three – (9, 52, 217) Contains eight iron, four gold, two diamonds and an Iron Sword.
Chest Four – (409, 72, 9) Contains seven iron and two TNT.
Not only does the Overworld spawn have everything you need nearby, but this lava pool will spawn you directly above a Nether Fortress! Of course, the End portal is close by as well at (1277, 11, -858), which does require Eyes of Ender, making it an easy speedrun for beginners that relies less on glitches or luck.
6
Spawning In A Bastion And Fortress (1.16.1)
Seed: 8802654848425114236
This seed gets you instantly off to a good start and luck will just keep on going. As soon as you spawn, you can head on down into the ocean to grab a piece of flint from a gravel block and find buried treasure at (-54, 46,105) that contains 11 iron, five gold, four diamonds and two TNT. By sailing on a boat to the south, you can reach an underwater lava pool at (-39, 11, 250) which can be used to speed build a Nether portal.
This will lead you straight to a Bastion, which will have a ton more gold for you to barter with the Piglins to get the Ender Pearls you need. Once you get over 14 of them, you can use some to launch yourself towards the nearby fortress found at (75, 67, -146) to obtain the Blaze Rods. Then simply make a portal over the lava at (180, 48, -250) and you will be right inside the Stronghold with everything you need.
Pick up as much string as you can inside any Bastion chests, as you can convert it into white wool to make beds to quickly defeat the Ender Dragon by making them explode in The End.
5
Putting The Word Speed In Speedrun (1.12.2)
Seed: 4973628407607760032
This seed is used by many top runners to achieve an under two-minute glitch run. All you need to do once spawning in, is to step a few chunks away to the coordinates (-1515, 80, 146) and dig down a bit, and you will be able to fall right into the Stronghold.

Ways To Make Survival Minecraft More Challenging
Hardcore isn’t the only option to make survival Minecraft more difficult.
By practicing this fall, you can land in some cobwebs to save yourself and then work your way towards the portal while collecting a bow. All you need to kill the Dragon in this version is a single arrow thanks to a glitch involving how momentum and arrow power works in 1.12. When the dragon charges at you, if you can cancel out the knockback and shoot an arrow, it will one-shot it.
4
To Hell And Back (1.16.1)
Seed: 2984198431426858954
The moment you spawn in this world, no matter which direction you turn, you will come across one of the two greatest structures for speedrunners. On your left, there will be a village with beds to steal and, turning to the right, reveals a ruined portal which comes with both enough obsidian and a Flint and Steel to instantly enter the Nether.
This is not all this blessed seed grants you though, as right outside this portal is a Bastion that can get you stacked with Ender Pearls and more Obsidian. You won’t need to visit a Fortress though, so don’t worry about getting a ton of Pearls, head over and build a portal at (-100, 33, 174) to enter straight into the Stronghold’s portal room with all the slots already filled.
Sometimes, creating a portal in a specific location will not lead you directly into the portal room and this is due to how the portals can generate, so you may have to either restart the run or just dig around till you find it.
3
A Brisk Trip To The Nether (1.17.1)
Seed: -3294725893620991126
This seed instantly sets you up to enter the Nether within the first minute by having a total of 26 obsidian inside two blacksmith buildings in the village you spawn in. By venturing a bit through the Nether and then making a portal around (4, 45, 178) you will be taken right in front of the End portal.
The reason you never have to visit a Fortress is because the End portal is glitched in this world to generate half the portal over a chunk border. This means by creating a portal in the Nether at the specific coordinates, you can just jump straight into the End and use the beds from the village to destroy the Ender Dragon without ever having to craft a single Eye of Ender.
2
The Double Blacksmith Portal (1.16.5)
Seed: 8398967436125155523
This seed spawns you right in front of a village, allowing you to get the beds you need as well as some iron gear and six obsidian from one blacksmith. That’s not all, as this village also contains a second blacksmith with even more obsidian and a ruined portal that is intersecting this blacksmith.

Minecraft has several interesting biomes that might pop up in your world, but some are rarer than others.
Once in the Nether, if you head to around (-139, 41, 104) and build a portal over the lava, you will spawn in the Overworld directly inside the portal room, which has a naturally generated complete portal frame. It is very easy to optimize the route, and you can get times as quick as two minutes using this seed.
1
The Record Holding Glitched Seed (1.16.1)
Seed: -6405782700478242821
This seed is one of the most optimized seeds around with it holding the world record for over a year. You spawn within 20 blocks of a nearly complete ruined portal, which conveniently has just enough Obsidian and Flint and Steel for you to complete the portal. This will then spawn you inside a Bastion where you can get everything you need, including gear, Ender Pearls and more Obsidian.
If this ridiculous luck wasn’t enough, by heading to these coordinates (-99, 90,182) in the Nether and building a portal, you will be transported inside the Stronghold’s portal room. There’s one thing we still haven’t mentioned, which is that some of the End portal frames are activated despite not all the slots being filled. This is due to a world generation glitch which makes it great for speedruns, as it skips having to obtain Blaze Rods.
