Rappigs are a recurring animal species in the Tales of series, appearing in Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Xillia, Tales of Xillia 2, Tales of Berseria, and Tales of Arise. These rabbit-pig hybrids are rabbits that resemble pigs, with round pink bodies, stubby tails, and long ears.

Don’t mistake rappigs for piggits! While rappigs have the body of a pig with rabbit-like ears, piggits are the reverse: pigs with rabbit ears and curly tails. More importantly, unlike rappigs, piggits are toxic and inedible.

Quickie is Meredy’s loyal pet in Tales of Eternia, a small, fuzzy creature with heightened intelligence and an unbreakable bond with his owner. Despite his tiny size, Quickie plays an important role throughout the game, using his keen senses to detect danger and assist the party in both combat and exploration.

Tales of Eternia was localized in the west as Tales of Destiny 2, not to be confused with the Tales of Destiny 2 game that was exclusive to Japan.

In battle, Quickie responds to Meredy’s whistles, dashing forward to attack enemies on command. Though he may not be the most powerful fighter, his speed and agility make him a valuable asset in battle, allowing him to strike foes before retreating to safety. His presence is especially notable in supporting Meredy, complementing her magical abilities with quick, physical attacks.

Early in the game, you stumble upon a hidden forest inhabited by Dahnan owls, ruled by the Owl King and Queen. However, most of their kind have disappeared across the world. The King and Queen entrust you with finding all 38 missing owls, rewarding you with special items for every few owls you rescue.

Hootle plays a crucial role in this side quest, acting as your guide. Whenever an owl is nearby, he excitedly flutters around, hooting to alert the party to its presence. His ability to sense hidden owls helps you track them down in even the most inconspicuous locations.

Bienfu is a normin malak in Tales of Beseria. Originally bound to Magilou, Bienfu later forms a contract with Eleanor Hume, though his allegiance often wavers due to Magilou’s unpredictable antics.

Bienfu is very expressive, frequently shifting between timid and boastful depending on the situation. Although often treated as a joke, Bienfu plays a vital role in the group, especially in guiding Laphicet as he learns more about malakhim and their abilities.

As a supporting malak, Bienfu enhances the combat abilities of his contractor. His primary function is to boost artes and magic, particularly when paired with Magilou. When he channels his power through her, he amplifies the strength of her Guardian Dolls, allowing her to unleash devastating counterspells. His influence can also be felt when bonded with Eleanor, enhancing her abilities in combat.

Rollo is a large cat that belongs to Ludger and Julius in Tales of Xillia 2. Though he appears to be an ordinary house cat, Rollo possesses an unusual level of intelligence, often serving as a guide for Elle as she travels with the party.

Rollo isn’t just a cuddly companion, he also plays a practical role in the game’s item-gathering system. As you progress, you’ll befriend and collect various cats scattered across different locations. Rollo, acting as their leader, sends them on expeditions to retrieve valuable items, which can be used for crafting, upgrading weapons, or selling for gald.

Noishe

Noishe is Lloyd’s loyal companion in Tales of Symphonia, though he is much more than just a pet. While Lloyd refers to Noishe as a dog, he is actually a protozoan, an ancient, mana-guided species capable of evolving into multiple forms over thousands of years. Noishe is currently in his third evolutionary stage, known as an Arshis, a form known for its speed and agility.

Despite his stuffed-animal appearance, Teepo is actually a high-tech booster, a device designed to enhance spirit artes. Elize was given Teepo while being subjected to experiments at the Labari Institute, where she lived in isolation. Because of this, she viewed Teepo as her only friend for much of her life.

Teepo’s personality is the complete opposite of Elize’s. While she is soft-spoken and timid, Teepo is loud, boisterous, and unafraid to speak his mind… often to comedic effect. Over time, the party discovers that Teepo is not an independent being but rather an extension of Elize herself. His words are actually a manifestation of her inner thoughts and emotions, which she struggles to express on her own.

In Tales of Xillia 2, Teepo and Elize’s personalities mirror each other rather than contrasting, showcasing Elize’s development.
