April 15 is Going to Be a Sad Day for PS Plus Subscribers

Summary

  • PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers are losing access to at least eight games on April 15.
  • This includes highly-rated titles like Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Slay the Spire.
  • It’s rumored that the critically-acclaimed Disco Elysium could be leaving PS Plus that same day as well.

Tuesday, April 15 is going to be a sad day for PlayStation Plus subscribers signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers, as that’s when the service will be losing some of its best games. Whereas the monthly free games released through the Essential tier can be kept by PlayStation Plus subscribers forever as long as they stay signed up for the service, the games available through the Extra and Premium tiers rotate in and out.

Sony lets fans know which games are leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium ahead of time through the “Last Chance to Play” section. According to the latest Last Chance to Play update, PS Plus is losing at least eight games on April 15, including some of the service’s most critically-acclaimed titles. That was already bad enough, but now it’s believed that yet another highly-praised game could be leaving PS Plus in the near future.

PS Plus: A Comprehensive List Of Every Monthly Game It’s Added

Since relaunching the subscription service in June 2022, Sony has added a host of games per month to PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium.

Reddit user MichaelWildeboer has made the case that Disco Elysium could be leaving PS Plus on April 15 along with the other games that have already been confirmed. While it’s not listed in the Last Chance to Play section, it seems Disco Elysium‘s game page shows an expiring license for the same date and time as the other games leaving the service. The Reddit user also pointed out that Disco Elysium has been playable through PS Plus Extra for 18 months already, and so it’s likely that it will be getting removed soon, especially since there is precedent for titles getting the boot even if they’re not in the Last Chance to Play section.

  • Animal Well
  • Deliver Us Mars
  • Disco Elysium – RUMORED
  • Kena: Bridge of Spirits
  • Miasma Chronicles
  • Nour: Play With Your Food
  • Slay the Spire
  • Stray Blade
  • Tales of Kenzera: Zau

Disco Elysium has a 92 overall critic rating, making it one of the highest-rated games on PS Plus Extra. It’s possible it will be staying on PS Plus Extra past April 15, but anyone interested in the game may want to prioritize playing it now while it’s still guaranteed it will be on the service. In the meantime, there are other notable PS Plus games getting the boot on April 15. Animal Well is an award-winning Metroidvania that was a day one PS Plus Extra game last year and is short enough for subscribers to beat it before it’s removed. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is another well-regarded game, as is Slay the Spire, which is often pointed to as one of the best deckbuilding roguelikes on the market.

With all these great games leaving PS Plus Extra on April 15, next month’s departures sting a lot more than usual. On the bright side, a new batch of games will likely be added to the Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus that same day, so subscribers have that to look forward to at least.
