Insect Jaws are materials in Xenoblade Chronicles X that play important roles in developing Level 20 weapons. As players are likely to expect, this material comes from indigens that are categorized as insectoids, though only certain subcategories award it. This guide is here to detail those subcategories, and it will help players start collecting Insect Jaws in Xenoblade Chronicles X.
The Archetype Weapons that are developed with Insect Jaws each require three of this material. Additionally, players will need to gather some Pristine Claws, Poisonous Needles, Arc Sand Ore, and Miranium in Xenoblade Chronicles X if they hope to create those weapons.

This guide details a path that players can use to reach FN Site 108, which can yield several materials, in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
Where to Get Insect Jaws in Xenoblade Chronicles X
There are two subcategories of insectoids that have a chance to award Insect Jaws when slain, and they are Germivores and Thalluses. These two insects come in several different varieties, and they are primarily found in Noctilum, Oblivia, and Sylvalum. While players who spend some time in those regions may stumble across Germivores and Thalluses naturally, here are two specific areas that they can target:
Skulker & Echo Germivores at Seabird’s Beak (Sylvalum)
Sylvalum is the continent to the north of Primordia, and Seabird’s Beak is a beach at its southwest corner. The precise positions that Xenoblade Chronicles X players should target have been marked on the preceding maps, and they will find several Skulker and Echo Germivores at those locations between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00.
Players can easily change the time by pressing “+,” selecting “System,” and clicking on “Change Time.”
If a player still needs more Insect Jaws after slaying the Germivores in these positions, they should simply fast travel to FN Site 403, which is situated very close to the insectoids. Using Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s fast travel feature will force the Germivores to respawn, allowing players to repeatedly kill them for the materials they provide.
False Thalluses in Canopied Nightwood (Noctilum)
There are several False Thalluses in Noctilum’s Canopied Nightwood, near FN Site 225, and their position has been marked on the preceding maps. While players are certainly free to farm these indigens in Xenoblade Chronicles X for their jaws, this is definitely a more difficult farming option than the Germivores at Seabird’s Beak.
Indeed, not only are the Thalluses at a higher level than the Germivores, they are also located in an area that is more dangerous. Additionally, it takes longer to reach the Thalluses from the nearest fast-travel point, which slows things down further. It is thus recommended that players who are looking for Insect Jaws stick to Seabird’s Beak unless they have a very strong aversion to visiting Sylvalum.
