One Piece: Oda Reveals A Character Even Stronger Than Fleet Admiral Akainu

Akainu is a powerful character in One Piece. Oda has stated that this character is stronger than Akainu.

It can be said that right now, Luffy is one of the most dangerous pirates in the entire world and he’s earned his status among the mightiest individuals to ever live. However, at this point, Luffy isn’t the strongest. There are those who stand above Luffy in terms of power, and are there as obstacles for him to surpass. Come the end of One Piece, Oda will inevitably end up making Luffy the strongest character of all time.

Luffy’s Power Level Right Now In The Final Saga

  • Luffy Is One Of The Yonko Of The Sea
  • Luffy’s Bounty Is 3 Billion Berries Right Now

After the Wano Country arc of One Piece, Luffy was officially considered to be one of the elite pirates of the world, and this doesn’t come as a surprise to any fan. After all, Wano was where he took his biggest step towards the One Piece itself. Everything that Luffy trained for two years during the timeskip and all the enemies he beat immediately after it were for this very arc, where his true mettle was tested by the World’s Strongest Creature, Kaido.

Don’t let your guard down, Sommers. I saw the ship of the Yonko of the Sea, Straw Hat Luffy anchored at the port. — Gunko

Luffy lost to Kaido four times in Wano. However, eventually, he figured out all of Kaido’s powers and even picked some up, such as Supreme King Haki Infusion, himself. This already put Luffy on the same pedestal as Kaido, although he was still weaker. To mitigate this, Luffy ended up awakening his Devil Fruit and this gave him access to Gear 5. Overall, Luffy’s might was such that even Kaido couldn’t stand up to it and eventually lost the battle.

The fact that Luffy’s Devil Fruit was revealed to be a God Devil Fruit most certainly only added to his strength and overall charm, and once dust settled on the battlefield, fans could see that Luffy had officially defeated someone who even the World Government feared. With that, Luffy was declared one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, officially considered to be standing on the same pedestal as the famous Red-haired Emperor, Shanks.

Despite all that, however, Luffy isn’t anywhere close to being the strongest in One Piece right now. If anything, his weaknesses have already stood out to the fans, even in the Final Saga. But, that doesn’t mean Luffy cannot become the strongest in the future. In fact, Oda has already set the precedent for Luffy to be the strongest at the end.

Why Luffy Must Surpass Roger And Joy Boy To Be The Strongest

Luffy Needs To Do What Roger And Joy Boy Couldn’t

There are many reasons why Luffy absolutely has to be the strongest in the world. Some fans argue that Luffy doesn’t want to be the strongest and that he simply believes in being the most free. However, these two things go hand in hand. Luffy cannot preserve his freedom or the freedom of those he loves, or the world, if he isn’t the strongest. Luffy doesn’t want to be a conqueror, but he still wins countries over anyway, and he does this through displays of sheer strength.

Rayleigh, someone will come eventually in the future and surpass us. I’m sure of it! — Gol D Roger

Oda has already established in the story that Luffy must absolutely be the mightiest at the end. This is because Luffy must two what the two previous strongest characters couldn’t. Roger, the late Pirate King, was declared as the mightiest pirate, with Newgate being his only equal, and that was only be Roger himself battled a deadly illness. Before Roger, Joy Boy existed 900 years ago and fought the World Government, eventually losing to them despite possessing tremendous might. Both Joy Boy and Roger are Luffy’s reflections in a way, and both of them were at the top of their era.
