What Is The Golden Companion Spirit?

The Golden Companion Spirit is a new currency introduced permanently in the Version 3.2 update of Honkai: Star Rail. When you get an eidolon of a five-star character that’s already on maximum eidolons, you’ll get one Silver Companion Spirit. Two of these Silver Companion Spirits can be exchanged for one Golden Companion Spirit.

After getting a Golden Companion Spirit, you can exchange it for one of the five-stars in the special shop, which will include Ruan Mei and Luocha when the feature releases. As an anniversary reward, every player can get one Golden Companion Spirit by logging in during Version 3.2 and 3.4.

If you buy a certain amount of Oneiric Shards with real money during the Version 3.2 update, you can get another Golden Companion Spirit.

Should You Pick Ruan Mei Or Luocha?

While you can choose one of the standard banner characters with the Golden Companion Spirit, most players would benefit from choosing either Ruan Mei or Luocha since both of them are quite strong. However, Ruan Mei is a much more valuable character than Luocha. If you don’t have either of these characters, Ruan Mei is easily the better choice.

However, if you have Ruan Mei but not Luocha, you’d want to get him instead, especially if you don’t have two dedicated sustainers for two different teams. Luocha is also great with characters like Mydei and Castorice, who rely on your team getting constantly healed since he can heal them as they attack enemies.

It’s also important to mention that Ruan Mei is specifically great with Break-based teams. So if you have Firefly, Boothill, or Rappa, you can easily go for her.

Ruan Mei Eidolons Vs Luocha Eidolons

If you’ve been playing Honkai: Star Rail for a long time, there’s a high chance that you might already have both Ruan Mei and Luocha since they were both meta units on their release. In this case, you’ll be looking to get an eidolon for one of these characters with the Golden Companion Spirit.

Here’s what each character’s eidolons provide them:

Ruan Mei	E1	Within the Ultimate field, ally damage ignores 20 percent of the enemy’s DEF.
	E2	While dealing damage to Weakness Broken enemy with Ruan Mei on the field, the ally’s ATK increases by 40 percent.
	E3	Ultimate and Talent level increased by two.
	E4	Ruan Mei increases her Break Effect by 100 percent for three turns when an enemy’s Toughness is broken.
	E5	Skill and Basic Attack levels increased by two and one respectively.
	E6	Deals 200 percent increased Break DMG from the talent while increasing her Ultimate’s duration by one turn.
Luocha	E1	Within the Ultimate field, increases ally attacks by 20 percent.
	E2	When Luocha’s Skill is used on an ally, heals them more if they’re below 50 percent HP and provides them a shield if they’re above.
	E3	Skill and Basic Attack levels increased by two and one respectively.
	E4	Enemies deal 12 percent less damage within Luocha’s field.
	E5	Ultimate and Talent level increased by two.
	E6	When you trigger his Ultimate, the enemies’ All-Type RES can be reduced by 20 percent.

The eidolon you should go for depends on multiple things. The first factor is how much you’re using both characters on your account. For example, if you’re using a Firefly team with Ruan Mei to beat every endgame mode, you should go for her eidolon without a second thought.

On the other hand, if Luocha is one of your dedicated sustainers, it’s a good idea to go for his eidolon instead. Apart from this factor, here’s the general priority for getting these characters’ eidolons, with the first one being the highest priority:
