‘There Are Surprises Even Dataminers Haven’t Found Out About’ New Space Marine 2 Content is on the Way

Saber Interactive has revealed more Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 content coming in mid-April, including a new DLC and a new map for PvE. The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 developer has also assured players that it remains committed to updating the game and that “there are surprises even dataminers haven’t found out about.”

Space Marine 2 has been incredibly popular, marking one of the most successful releases of 2024, surpassing 4.5 million players in October. The game is a direct sequel to the 2011 original, continuing the story of Lieutenant Demetrian Titus. In its single-player campaign—set in the brutal Warhammer 40K universe—players wield an arsenal of weaponry to protect humanity from various threats. Alongside the campaign, players can also engage in multiplayer modes like 6v6 PvP. With the recent announcement of Space Marine 3, some players were concerned that Saber Interactive would shift its focus to the new entry and neglect Space Marine 2, but the developer has addressed these worries with good news.

Space Marine 2 Addresses Live-Service Concerns

Saber Interactive revealed in a blog post a wealth of new content coming to Space Marine 2. A patch will roll out in mid-April, kicking off the Trygon update across all platforms and introducing new DLC. Players will be able to get their hands on the new Space Wolves Chapter and Imperial Fists Champion packs, both featuring new cosmetics and weapons. Enhancing Space Marine 2‘s PvE, patch 7.0 introduces the new Exfiltration map, which features the Trygon—a giant Tyranid boss that hides underground and performs surprise attacks. Several aspects of PvE will also receive adjustments, including changes to Prestige Ranks, weapon class restrictions, matchmaking, and more.

The Space Marine 2 PvP experience will also see improvements, particularly regarding matchmaking for better team balance. The patch introduces Private Lobbies, allowing players to team up with up to 11 others, toggle friendly fire, adjust class limit restrictions, and more. Additionally, the developer has noted general additions, including new colors in the Armouring Hall and a rework of weapon perks. Moreover, from March 24 to 30, players can participate in a new community event to earn XP rewards for both Operations and Eternal War.

For those worried that the Space Marine 3 announcement signals the end of Space Marine 2, the developer has reassured them that it is working on much more content—some of which “even dataminers haven’t found out about.” Saber Interactive has also reaffirmed its commitment to addressing player feedback and listening to the community’s ideas to improve the game. While players continue to enjoy Space Marine 2, they can rest assured that the game is far from over.
