This article contains spoilers for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure up to and including Part 6.
Summary
- Part 3’s Stardust Crusaders faced overwhelming loss in their quest.
- Joseph and Polnareff face negative fates in future JoJo’s parts.
- Jotaro’s death in Part 6 sets in motion a new universe with a possible happy ending for his character.
As many fans of the series are well aware, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is an incredibly lethal show for its characters. Seemingly out of nowhere, the main characters that fans have spent weeks getting to know are killed off in the blink of an eye, both shocking and breaking the hearts of the audience. Due to this, whenever a new JoJo’s part begins, it almost seems like there’s a 50% chance that a cool new protagonist or Jobro will actually make it through the part.
One of the most shocking JoJo’s parts in terms of death is Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. After spending a long adventure halfway around the world with these characters, seeing the heart-wrenching death scenes of some of the most beloved Stardust Crusaders dealt a massive emotional blow to anyone watching. Luckily, there are a few surviving members of the Stardust Crusaders, though their time after Egypt may not have been so lucky.

The Stardust Crusaders Are One Of The Most Recognizable Casts In JoJo’s
Sadly Most Of Them Perished Saving Holly
During JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3, in an attempt to save Jotaro’s mother, Joseph, Jotaro’s grandfather, forms a group to save her by taking down DIO. This group consists of Jotaro, the main JoJo, Joseph, Part 2’s protagonist, Avdol, a fortune-teller and Joseph’s ally, Kakyoin, a student like Jotaro, Polnareff, a goofy French swordsman on a quest for revenge, and eventually Iggy, a feral and moody dog. However, by the end of the part, only Joseph, Jotaro, and Polnareff manage to survive their encounter with DIO and Vanilla Ice.
Your Stand isn’t visible to the victim or the law. Therefore, I shall judge you! – Jotaro
However, although this marked the end of Part 3, this wasn’t the end of the Stardust Crusaders. After the trio parts ways, returning to their respective countries, each surviving member is tasked with keeping an eye on a specific region of the world, keeping watch for any powerful Stand users that might emerge. Jotaro keeps an eye out on Japan, while Polnareff and Joseph keep watch on Europe and America respectively.
Joseph And Polnareff Ventured Home After Their Adventure
Both Suffered Fairly Negative Fates In Future JoJo’s Parts
- Joseph Has Become Far Frailer And Older
- Polnareff Faced Off Against Diavolo Himself
Firstly, fans are able to see Joseph again soon after Part 3 in Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable. Revealed to be the true father of Josuke, Joseph arrives to assist in finding Red Hot Chili Peppers’ user, though he seems to be far too old at this point to be of real assistance. Suffering from the ailments of old age, Joseph seems to be a shadow of his former self, though some accuse him of faking since at other times he acts normally. All in all, however, even up to Part 6, Joseph is alive and healthy, seemingly thanks to his short-lived practice in Hamon.

Gyro Zeppeli is one of the best Jobros to ever be a part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Here’s a closer look at what makes him so great.
As for Polnareff, before the events of Part 5: Golden Wind, the Stardust Crusader had an encounter with Diavolo that almost cost him his life. Barely surviving Polnareff assisted Giorno and his allies in taking down Diavolo once and for all. However, during the fight, though his body was killed, Polnareff found his ghost trapped in the stand of Coco Jumbo, Mr. President. From here, Polnareff would remain in the ghost, acting as an advisor to Giorno for the foreseeable future.
Jotaro Was An Important Part Of Two Future Parts
Ultimately He Died Fighting For His Daughter
Finally, Jotaro was a major part of both Part 4 and Part 6 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, acting as major allies in both of them. However, in Part 6, Jotaro’s Memory Discs are stolen by Pucci, putting him into a coma, and starting Jolyene’s journey to take him down. By the end of the part, with Jotaro revived, the powerful Stand user helps fight Pucci, though is sadly killed by Made In Heaven’s powerful ability. Still, after the reset of the universe with the same ability, Irene, Jolyne’s new universe counterpart, mentions that her father is alive, meaning a new universe Jotaro is probably currently alright.
There’s one reason you lost, Dio. You pissed me off. – Jotaro
Although this seems like a fairly strange ending to the stories of the Stardust Crusaders, moments like these are expected to happen in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Despite not being the happy ending many hoped for, at the very least, the actions of Joseph, Polnareff, and Jotaro beyond Part 3 were extremely memorable. Still, these endings do leave many fans wondering how their stories might continue if JoJo’s had continued with the alternate universe that started at the end of Part 6.
