The Origins Of Flame Breathing
Flame Breathing is one of the five major Breathing Styles derived from Sun Breathing; the original combat style created by Yoriichi Tsugikuni. It follows a powerful and aggressive approach, focusing on burning, sword-slashing techniques that resemble the movement of fire.

Historically, Flame Breathing was passed down through the Rengoku family, making it one of the most well-documented Breathing Styles in Demon Slayer. The technique emphasizes offense, cutting down demons with flame-like strikes.
While Flame Breathing shares its roots with Sun Breathing and was created by Hajime Oda, it evolved separately. Unlike Sun Breathing, which is highly versatile, Flame Breathing prioritizes wide-range attacks, making it ideal for direct combat against demons.

Flame Breathing And Sun Breathing
Flame Breathing exists because of Sun Breathing, but it lacks the full versatility of the original style. Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the creator of Sun Breathing and the strongest member of the Demon Slayer Corps, was the only known person capable of using its techniques perfectly.
When he tried to pass it on, his students could not replicate it fully, leading to the creation of derived styles like Water, Thunder, and Flame Breathing.
Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, mastered this style to perfection. His father, Shinjuro Rengoku, once mentioned that Flame Breathing was a pale imitation of Sun Breathing, but this does not make it any less effective.
The techniques of Flame Breathing are still something to behold, both visually and in combat, as shown in Kyojuro’s fight against Akaza.
While Sun Breathing is considered the ultimate style, Flame Breathing remains one of the strongest combat techniques, wielded by warriors who burn brightly in the face of adversity.
