The Best Rush Compositions To Play In Marvel Rivals

The Best Rush Compositions To Play In Marvel Rivals

Summary

  • Rush comps like Asgard’s Might in Marvel Rivals rely on team-up abilities for aggressive play.
  • The Spiders Unite rush comp combines Spider-Man, Venom, and Peni for melee strength.
  • Running triple support with Groot can create a strong rush comp in Marvel Rivals.

When putting together a team in Marvel Rivals, there are a handful of different types of team compositions you can play. These types of compositions are common across many hero shooters, though Marvel Rivals, with its varied hero roster, can often prove to be the most complex.

One of the most dynamic team comps you can play is a rush composition. Rush compositions are usually used on attack, and comprise teams that can quite literally ‘rush’ forward ahead of the point, picking off enemies as they trickle back from spawn or bowling over the entire team. Here are the best rush comps in Marvel Rivals.

10

Asgard’s Might

A screenshot of Thor from Marvel Rivals from the game's Hero Profile.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

Captain America, Thor

Duelist

Storm, Hela

Strategist

Luna Snow, Loki

This first rush comp relies on a couple of different team-up abilities. First, because Hela’s on the field, she can revive both Thor and Loki, allowing them to potentially play more aggressively. Plus, with this comp, Captain America, Storm, and Thor all get a boost, enabling them to rush forward on attack.

Add Luna to this mix so she can keep her Idol Aura on either Storm or Hela, thus enabling them to take more offensive angles around corners. Loki is helpful when the party needs to retreat, as he can place his Regeneration Domains in a tight group, allowing the party to reassemble around him.

9

Spiders Unite

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

Venom, Peni Parker

Duelist

Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl

Strategist

Luna Snow, Cloak & Dagger

It’s time to get the whole spider crew together for this next rush composition. Venom is more of a dive hero, generally speaking, but he can be played in conjunction with Peni, and play slightly more defensively to make this work. This comp grants Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl, Venom, and Peni additional team-up abilities that can allow them to charge forward and play in aggressive melee range.

The trick to mastering this comp is having good healers. Again, you’ll want Luna so she can place her Idol Aura on Spider-Man, allowing him to play more aggressively. Plus, Cloak & Dagger can easily hit both him and Venom from a distance, even while they’re up in the air, swinging.

8

Mutants And Friends

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

The Thing, Magneto

Duelist

Magik, Scarlet Witch

Strategist

Invisible Woman, Luna Snow

If you like the X-Men or mutants in general, this comp can prove really fun. The one downside to this comp is that you need to bring Magneto into the mix, who is not really necessarily a great rush hero. But, he helps defend your strategists, which is sometimes necessary, and he’s certainly not bad on rush.

Plus, giving Magneto his team-up ability with Wanda helps increase Magneto’s melee prowess. Magik and Scarlet Witch can easily push forward while still having opportunities to escape if necessary. Use Thing’s Yancy Street Charge to escape as well if you push too far.

Triple Support Infinite Ammo

Jeff the Land Shark from Marvel Rivals wearing the Cuddly Fuzzlefinn skin.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

Groot

Duelist

The Punisher, Winter Soldier

Strategist

Rocket Raccoon, Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow

For this comp, you’ll want to run triple support, just since Jeff the Land Shark isn’t necessarily at the top of the meta always. Add Rocket with the Punisher and Bucky to provide them both with infinite ammo. Luna helps round out the support comp and can team up with Jeff.

The trick to this rush comp is having Groot wall off opponents pretty aggressively. Jeff can ride on Groot as well, keeping him up nearly infinitely as he pushes forward, walling off enemies. After every wall-off, your duelists should be getting elims, hopefully with the help of Rocket and Luna’s damage.

6

Gamma Power

Iron Man using Unibeam against Winter Soldier in Marvel Rivals.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

The Hulk, Doctor Strange

Duelist

Iron Man, The Punisher

Strategist

Cloak & Dagger, Invisible Woman

Though not always at the top of the pack, the Hulk/Strange/Iron Man Gamma team-up ability is often highly underutilized and can prove immensely powerful in the right hands. The only wrinkle with his comp is you need Punisher to help peel for your strategists in the backline, meaning he can’t play quite as aggressively.

The bulk of the rush effort should come from Hulk, Strange, and Iron Man, who can push forward, hopefully picking off trickling enemies with their Gamma power-ups. Cloak & Dagger can keep these heroes up at a range, as can Invisible Woman, providing shields when necessary.

5

Cannonball

The Wolverine Hero Selection Screen in Marvel Rivals.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

The Hulk, The Thing

Duelist

Wolverine, Black Panther

Strategist

Luna Snow, Cloak & Dagger

In some ways, Wolverine’s team-up ability is a bit goofy. However, it can be fun to combine him with Hulk and the Thing for this ability, which can launch Wolverine into aggressive positions. Panther can help with this as well, rushing forward and backing up Wolverine. At least one vanguard needs to stay close to strategists to help peel when necessary.

While this comp can be fun for expert players, be warned that both of your strategists are pretty vulnerable with this comp, as either the Thing or Hulk will have to help protect them. Hulk is preferable thanks to his shields.

4

Limbo

Magik holding her giant Soul Sword near her face in Marvel Rivals.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

Magneto or Doctor Strange

Duelist

Black Panther, Psylocke, Magik

Strategist

Luna Snow, Mantis

For longtime Tracer players in Overwatch 2, this next comp might be the one for you. There’s an often underutilized team-up ability that is shared between Black Panther, Psylocke, and Magik, in which Panther and Psy can tap into Magik’s limbo powers and rewind the clock, moving to a previous position. This can enable them to play more aggressively.

Because you’re running three rush duelists, you’ll want to make sure you have a vanguard with a good shield in the backline to protect strategists. Use Luna Snow’s Idol Aura again to keep at least one of these duelists up at a distance.

3

The Punisher Meets The Guardians

Guardian Revival team-up selection menu in Marvel Rivals with Adam Warlock, Mantis and Peter Quill.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

Groot

Duelist

Star-Lord, The Punisher

Strategist

Adam Warlock, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon

For this comp, you’re almost going to want to think of the team as two smaller teams of three. Send Star-Lord far ahead with Groot and Rocket. Rocket can keep Groot up pretty easily with their team-up ability, and can get Star-Lord at a distance. However, if Star-Lord plays too aggressively, he can revive himself thanks to his team-up with Adam.

Punisher should help peel for Warlock and Mantis with his turret, hopefully making use of Rocket’s infinite ammo ability. Groot can also wall off enemies for Star-Lord, Mantis, and Warlock to pick off. Just make sure you’re running three strategists since Adam’s healing output isn’t always that high.

2

Traps Galore

A screenshot of Groot from Marvel Rivals from the game's Hero Profile.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

Groot, Doctor Strange

Duelist

Namor, Winter Soldier

Strategist

Rocket Raccoon, Luna Snow

Similar to the triple support infinite ammo comp, this rush composition relies on using Groot walls aggressively to trap enemies. Because Doctor Strange is pretty good at a close range and can use his melee whip to charge up his dark magic meter, walling off enemies is immensely helpful.

Adding Namor, Luna, Winter Soldier, and Rocket works for two reasons. One, each of these heroes has a great team-up ability with the other, emboldening both duelists to do more damage. Second, Bucky can hook players toward the team, allowing Groot to more easily wall them off, while Namor can place turrets to help peel for the backline.

1

The Fantastics

The home screen of Marvel Rivals featuring the Fantastic Four.

Role

Heroes

Vanguard

The Thing

Duelist

The Human Torch, Mister Fantastic

Strategist

The Invisible Woman, Loki, Luna Snow

Last, consider bringing all members of The Fantastic Four into the fold for this team composition. The one trick with this comp is that you’re going to want three strategists with three powerful ultimates so that you can play defensively against the other team.

Push forward with the Thing, Human Torch, and Mister Fantastic, who should all be emboldened thanks to their team-up ability with Sue Storm. Loki’s Regeneration Pads once again provide a great saving grace for players to retreat into, while Luna can also attach her Idol Aura to Human Torch, bringing together the powers of ice and fire for a good defensive strategy.
