Temple’s signature SMG is one of Warframe’s
more interesting secondary weapons. Obtained from Solstice Square Defense, this strange pistol fires explosive projectiles that detonate when you reload the magazine, feeding the projectiles back into the magazine. Since you’re reusing the same projectiles, the Riot-848 doesn’t have any ammo reserves to speak of.

This creates a weapon with solid mobbing potential and, more importantly, gives the weapon infinite ammo. We’ll be covering how to get the Riot-848, explain how its reload gimmick works, and showcase a solid endgame build that will carry you through Steel Path content and even Archimedea missions.
How To Obtain The Riot-848
The Riot-848’s components drop from the Solstice Square Defense mission in Hollvania. This content is tied to Warframe 1999, which you’ll gain access to upon completing “The Hex” story quest. Once complete, finish rounds within Solstice Square for a chance of obtaining Temple’s signature SMG.
If you aren’t able to get the Riot’s components to drop, don’t fret. You can purchase the components you need outright from Flare within the Hollvania mall hub. Components obtained this way cost Beating Heartstrings, a currency obtained from Solstice Square. For more information on getting Beating Heartstrings and specific drop rates, consult our

Temple’s signature pistol is a fast-firing SMG that fires explosive projectiles. These projectiles deal Puncture damage by default, but once you reload the weapon, all previous projectiles you shot will detonate for moderate Blast damage. This explosion can be modified, although it is capped to the number of rounds in your magazine. If you somehow overflow the magazine, your oldest projectile will automatically detonate.
High critical stats and the reload gimmick make the Riot-848 a solid workhorse secondary against unarmored targets. For tougher foes, you’ll need to rely on damage buffs or ammo efficiency effects like Arcane Pistoleer to kill enemies in a reasonable timeframe. The explosion itself does have solid status chance, so you could use this weapon as a status primer of sorts.
The projectile explosion is unaffected by Synth Charge’s damage bonus. (Primed) Fulmination does work on this weapon, although the blast radius is so small that you’ll hardly notice a difference.
Riot-848 Builds
Since the Riot-848 is a fairly simple weapon, we’ll be focusing on a straightforward endgame build in this guide. This build might not be novel, but it will give this weapon more than enough damage to clear Steel Path content. With some help from your Warframe, it should be able to handle
Temporal Archimedea
as well.

Since the majority of your damage comes from the reload gimmick, Galvanized Shot isn’t going to be a good option for scaling our damage. Hornet Strike and Secondary Deadhead (or Merciless) grants more than enough base damage for most content. Galvanized Diffusion and Lethal Torrent scale your multishot and fire rate.
Critical mods are up next. Primed Pistol Gambit is your best option for critical chance, but if you don’t own it, Creeping Bullseye is a good alternative. Galvanized Crosshairs will then get you comfortably into orange crit territory. Primed Target Cracker gives you plenty of critical damage to maximize those orange crits. Finish the build with your favorite elemental damage combo.
