On Twitter, developer Psyonix teased an upcoming Rocket League crossover with NetherRealm Studio’s legendary fighting series Mortal Kombat. The post features a short clip that shows a ball bouncing out of a goal that suddenly turns into a flaming portal. A rope dart flies out and grabs the ball, and then the classic “Get Over Here” line is recited as the ball is pulled back for an epic Rocket League goal explosion. The message is also captioned “Flawless Victory,” the line that Mortal Kombat‘s announcer states if a player wins without taking any damage.
Rocket League and Mortal Kombat Are Holding a Crossover Event
It was leaked earlier this month that Mortal Kombat and Rocket League would crossover for a special occasion. However, no details on what players could expect were given, though possible additions to the soccer title include Scorpion’s rope dart. Gamers have expressed their excitement for the Rocket League and Mortal Kombat event, with a few stating that the portal opening in Psyonix’s clip would be their favorite goal explosion. Players are hoping to see Scorpion in some manner and have voiced that they will be paying for whatever items drop during the crossover. It remains to be seen what those items will be, especially since Mortal Kombat does not have much in terms of cars and soccer.
This is not the only Rocket League event that has seen the game mash up with other franchises. The title has mixed together with other series numerous times in the decade that it has been available, letting gamers drive cars with some of their favorite characters featured on them. This includes Rocket League cars with Spider-Man and Lightning McQueen from the Cars films. It is always fun to see video games do mash-up events that bring together franchises that players love. Gamers will have to wait to see what cars, stadiums, and items are introduced when Rocket League and Mortal Kombat come together soon.
