Back in 2024, the season concluded with the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024. That event was won by the Korean powerhouse of Dplus. The tournament had a prize pool of $3,000,000 with Dplus winning over $457,000. Since that event, there have been reports about the upcoming 2025 season.

Going into the 2025 season, many fans hoped that PUBG would add more pathways for newer players to join the esports ecosystem. In a video on YouTube on their official channel, James Yang, the Senior Director of the Global Esports Centre of PUBG Mobile, announced the upcoming roadmap.

The first tournament he discussed was the PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO). He began by announcing that over 100,000 players from over 150 countries registered to take part in this season’s events.

PMGO 2025 will use the smash rule during the tournament. This means that if a team collects over 80 points in a certain number of matches during the event, all they would need to do is secure a Chicken Dinner to win the event. If no team wins with the Smash rules, the team with the highest points after 12 matches will take home the trophy.

Below is a list of all the teams that have received a direct invite to PMGO 2025:

  • Nigma Galaxy
  • 4Merical Vibes
  • Regnum Carya Esports
  • Influence Rage
  • Vietnam D’Xavier
  • Nongshim Redforce
  • REJECT

There will be one more team invited through the PEL special invite. The remaining eight teams will qualify through the Prelims stage of the tournament. Below is a list of all teams that will be a part of the Prelims stage of the tournament:

The PMSL tournament will be split into five major regions: Southeast Asia, CSA, Americas, EU, and MENA. This split aims to open more opportunities for teams to advance to international tournaments. In a huge announcement, PUBG Mobile has announced that there will be 29 amateur qualifier events for the PMSL and the PMCL.

The next event mentioned was the PUBG Mobile World Cup. The Esports World Cup will occur in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The tournament will have a prize pool of $3,000,000. The tournament’s group stage will take place for 3 days, and 24 teams will participate.

The top 8 teams from the group stage will qualify for the Grand Finals stage of the event. The remaining 16 teams will play in the Survivor Stage of the event, which will last for 2 days.
