Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Wonder Pick Event Let’s You Reveal One Of The Cards

Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Shining Revelry update went live this week, and it added more to the game than just a booster pack. The patch also includes information on new features and events that might be coming soon, including a change to Wonder Picks that will let you reveal a card before making your selection.

Although The Pokemon Company hasn’t revealed details about the upcoming Wonder Pick event, details about it have been discovered in the 1.2.0 patch and shared by quite a few Pocket leakers, including PokeGirlLauren and PTCGPocket.gg. The event will reportedly let you reveal one of the five cards before you make your Wonder Pick.

Shining Revelry is here, and it has added two new rarities to the game.

That means the odds of you getting the card you want will be reduced depending on how many of the cards from any given Wonder Pick you need. If it’s just the one, then your odds of picking the right card will be doubled from 20 percent to 40 percent. There’s even a chance the card you choose to take a peek at will be the one you need, and you can choose it safe in the knowledge you’re getting the card you want.

Details About An Upcoming Wonder Pick Event Have Been Discovered

Peek Before You Pick

Unfortunately, the sneak peek at Wonder Picks potentially coming to Pocket doesn’t appear to be a permanent change. The patch notes discovered suggest it will be part of a Wonder Pick event kicking off next week on April 3. It’s also unclear how often you will be able to peek at cards in Wonder Picks. It might apply to all Wonder Picks during the event, or you might have the opportunity at random intervals, similar to bonus picks in other events.

You may have noticed Wonder Picks have already been shaken up a bit via this week’s update. The animation is a little cleaner, and instead of revealing your chosen card first, the four you didn’t pick are shown before whatever you got is unveiled at the end. Reactions to the altered way Wonder Picks are revealed appear to have players split, with many taking to social media to ask why anyone would want to see the cards they missed out on first.

The addition of Pocket’s Shining Revelry set is, of course, what has been stealing the game’s headlines this week, and not necessarily for the right reasons. For the first time since Pocket launched in October, there’s a card that can only be obtained by spending money in the app. The Shiny Mewtwo ex card is locked inside a bundle, and even worse, that bundle costs $23.
