Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is reportedly working with legendary author James Patterson on a novel with “shades of Squid Game” that is already being bid on for eight-figure offers.
Even though the past few years have been uncharacteristically full of controversy for YouTube‘s biggest content creator MrBeast, that hasn’t stopped him from being involved in several different projects and ventures. Perhaps the most notable (and one of the main sources of controversy) is Beast Games, a game show that is basically a friendly version of Saw and Squid Game.

Beast Games may not have been received very well by critics, but it seems that Donaldson still has the not-so-deadly challenges and games bug, as his next project is reportedly in the same vein. That being said, it’s still a big departure from what the YouTuber is known for, as it’ll be done in a completely different medium – a novel.
MrBeast And James Patterson Are Co-Writing A Novel With “Shades Of Squid Game”
As pointed out by DiscussingFilm and originally reported by Deadline, it’s understood that author James Patterson, known for Along Came A Spider, 1st To Die, I Funny, and more, has “jointly penned” a novel with MrBeast that is similar to Squid Game. Deadline claims that the novel’s rights have been put out for submission and has kicked off a bidding war.
According to Deadline, the project, which could be titled The Most Dangerous Game, is already having its film, TV, and novel rights shopped around, with some sources claiming that there are “eight-figure offers” for the publishing rights. The novel’s title isn’t quite finalised yet, but The Most Dangerous Game certainly sounds like something MrBeast would be involved with.
The report also claims that there’s an “accompanying nonfiction book” in the package that’s also being shopped around.
Beyond the general premise, there’s not much concrete known about the novel so far, although Deadline did share a logline for the book that reads, “Players fight to survive deadly tests held in dangerous locations around the world, as they battle to become ‘The One’”. At the risk of repeating myself, that certainly sounds like MrBeast.
