9 Great Anime About Fashion

Clothes and style play a key role in these great anime series that combine great plots with fashion.

While some characters show up in the same outfit regardless of the occasion (high school anime are particularly guilty of this), there are other characters who break the mold and look incredibly good in their choice of outfits. There are many fashionable anime characters out there, but some are simply more stylish than others.

11

Oreki Houtarou (Hyouka)

There’s More To Him Than Meets The Eye

Hyouka

Hyouka

Release Date

2012 – 2012

Directors

Yasuhiro Takemoto

Writers

Shoji Gatoh

Oreki Houtarou is mostly remembered for his brilliant deduction skills and rather apathetic personality, but an underrated part of his personality is how good he looks when he dresses. Mostly seen in school wear, he does dabble in casual wear a few times in the series and looks good when he does so.

One outfit that sticks in the memory is a white trenchcoat with a scarf around the neck, which he wore while accompanying Chitanda. He looked especially great in this fit, but even when he is simply loafing around in a shirt and pants, he still manages stands out.

10

Chuuya Nakahara (Bungo Stray Dogs)

Chuuya Looks Like A Romanticized Version Of A Gangster

Chuuya Nakahara might be an antagonist and a member of the Port Mafia, but he sure knows how to look good. One of the most powerful characters in Bungo Stray Dogs thanks to his gravity manipulation powers, he has a very interesting friendship with Osamu Dazai, who also looks good.

Chuuya’s wardrobe choices feel classic and serve as a great glow up from when he was younger. He typically sports a white button-down shirt with a gray vest and a bolo tie. He also tends to roll up his sleeves, which makes him look extra good, and his choice of wearing a long black coat as a cape just adds to his cool factor. The black gloves are also a really nice touch.

An Ironic Sense Of Style

Kimblee is a powerful antagonist from the Fullmetal Alchemist series and is a criminal who is somehow working under the direction of the Fuhrer King Bradley. For much of the show, he was in prison, but on coming out, he seemed determined to do everything in style.

Alongside its incredibly well-paced story, Fullmetal Alchemist is also filled with some spectacular fights. Here are the best ones.

Kimblee’s choice of fashion seems ironic, as he is known as the Crimson Lotus Alchemist, which indicates his sadistic nature and how he sheds blood. However, he is usually dressed in a 3-piece white suit with a white fedora. Though he may look incredibly cool, it’s important to remember that he is a psychotic killer.

8

Hibana (Fire Force)

Dresses To Impress, No Matter The Occasion

Hibana is the captain of the Special Fire Force Company 5. She served as an antagonist before moving over to the side of the good guys. She happens to have a crush on series protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe, and seeing how good she looks, it almost seems like she can go for just about anyone she wants.

Hibana usually opts for dresses, and her go-to is a white pencil dress with a belt and high heels. She throws on a necklace and a cool-looking iron fan to further add to the look. She then finishes with her Fire Force jacket, which only enhances the look rather than take away from it.

7

Fujito Chiyuki (Smile Down The Runway)

She’s A Model; It Is To Be Expected

Smile Down the Runway

Release Date

January 11, 2020

Fujito Chiyuki is one of the protagonists of the underrated Smile Down The Runway. A model who is considered too short to make it in the industry, Chiyuki is undaunted, and with the help of Ikuto Tsumura, her highschool colleague, she is ready to make the fashion world eat its words.

Chiyuki is a beautiful girl, and this is only enhanced by Tsumara’s designs, as he has a knack for creativity when it comes to dressing people. Chiyuki looks good in just about anything she puts on. Some of her runway outfits are absolutely stunning, and even when sporting something more casual, she still manages to look great.

6

Nico Robin (One Piece)

Nico Robin Always Looks Like She Just Stepped Off A Runway

Nico Robin is another character who started out as a villain and later became a protagonist. From her very first appearance when she hopped on Luffy’s ship without his knowledge all the way till now, she has easily remained the most stylish character in the Straw Hats (Brooke and Sanji look great, too, but Robin is streets ahead).

One Piece: Every Bounty Of Nico Robin (So Far)

Nico Robin is an important member of the Straw Hat pirates. She keeps getting huge bounty increases in One Piece.

Even after the time skip when her appearance was altered slightly, and she started to favor wearing her hair without her bangs, she looked exquisite. Perhaps her most iconic look was her white outfit with the matching cowboy hat, which she wore while working under the name ‘Miss All Sunday.’

5

Momo Ayase (Dandadan)

Momo Makes Even Her School Uniform Cool

Dandadan

Release Date

September 13, 2024

Momo Ayase is the female protagonist of the highly rated romantic action shonen darling, Dandadan. While she has shown herself to be an immensely capable character who can carry a show and fight off monsters, she is also something of a fashion icon.

Throughout the series, Momo wears a variety of clothes, mostly casual wear, but interestingly, her most stylish might be her school uniform. While sporting this look, she sets herself apart with her iconic pink sweater, which complements her red bow. In her other outfits, Momo is no less iconic and is usually just a joy to look at.

4

Nana Osaki (Nana)

Her Punk Rocker Style Will Not Be Forgotten In A Hurry

Nana has a dream of being a successful rock star and is willing to do just about anything to achieve that goal. The anime is all about her friendship with her namesake, Nana Komatsu, and the trials and tribulations the two go through. The show is heavy, offering a realistic look at what being an adult entails.

Story aside, Nana looks good. Most of the characters look great and make astute fashion choices, but Nana Osaki stands out. With her general penchant for more punk rock styles with black jackets, ripped jeans, and band tees, she makes it all work effortlessly.

3

Loid Forger (Spy X Family)

As Sleek As Bond

The idea of a stylish spy is nothing new, as a lot of them in popular media already look quite sleek. Loid Forger joins the pantheon with his incredible fashion sense. Typically seen sporting a number of outfits and disguises, he is most often seen in his iconic 3-piece green suit.

Despite being an excellent spy, he has these ‘holes’ to prove he is not perfect.

Whether he wears a hat or not, Loid always manages to look good. He never looks out of place whether he is in corporate attire or casual, and even in a simple white tee-shirt, he is still somehow able to look like a model.

2

Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Proves That Even Battle Shonen Protagonists Can Look Good

Battle Shonen protagonists, more often than not, don’t strike anyone’s mind as fashionable, but every once in a while, there’s one who shows off their drip and the potential for more fashionable leads. Yusuke Urameshi might be considered a delinquent, but he’s one that looks good.

Typically seen in his school uniform (which he already looks good in), he also tries out a variety of styles over the course of the series, with a particularly striking one being a green bomber jacket with a contrasting collar and sunglasses, which seemed to epitomize early 90s fashion. Gon could come and take some classes from Yusuke regarding fashion.

1

Kitagawa Marin (My Dress Up Darling)

The Master Of Different Looks

Kitagawa Marin is a cosplayer, and this means that fans were able to see her in a variety of outfits, many of which were inspired by pieces of media that she had an affinity for. In her day clothes, Marin already looks amazing, but with the help of Wakana Gojou, she can go even further.

Marin typically goes for gyaru fashion, although it might be more appropriate to call her neo-gyaru, which is a less garish form of the term. Her cosplays also showcase the range of Marin’s style, and she is able to pull off multiple looks.
