Over the past two decades, hundreds of thousands of The Sims characters have likely drowned or been starved to death. With a new competitor in the life simulation genre finally on the block, players will naturally be wondering if you can kill Zois in InZOI? The answer, for better or worse, is yes!

In fact, there are many ways for Zois to die. These InZOI deaths include neglect, such as a lack of food, as well as accidents, which include being run over. There are also deaths which relate to a Zoi’s social standing and mental state, as well as natural deaths such as passing away at an old age.
How To Kill Zois In InZOI?
Many players will be wondering how to kill characters in InZOI, and they will be glad to know that there are plenty of options. All characters have needs, and if some of these aren’t fulfilled and fall extremely low, Zois can die.
Players should receive a warning when a Zoi’s needs fall dangerously low, giving them time to act.
Turn Autonomy Off
As Zois will mostly feed themselves and sleep when needed, players will need to turn Autonomy off at the bottom of the screen. With this off, players have complete control. If they don’t tell their Zoi to eat, they won’t, which can eventually lead to death.
The classic Sims tactic of removing doors to lock characters in rooms is also possible in InZOI. Even if Zois have autonomy in such a room, they will not be able to eat or sleep if there is no food or beds, respectively. It does, however, take a long time for their drastic needs to result in death.
Accidental Deaths On Purpose
There are also plenty of accidental deaths, so if players are looking to give their Zoi a tragic end, go where the danger is. Busy roads are dangerous, and fires can also be started. If players prevent their Zois from mopping up after a leak, they may even slip and fall.
Edit the city settings to make crime more prevalent and cleanliness worse.
Can You Murder Other Characters In InZOI?
While players have full control over their own Zois and can find ways to kill them, it is not possible to directly murder other inhabitants of the world. From what the developers said, it doesn’t sound like this is something they want to add. However, the game is highly moddable, so look out for player-made content in the future.
That being said, there are a few indirect ways to kill other Zois. For example, by starting a house fire while you have guests, other Zois might die.

Every Way Zois Can Die In InZOI
According to Krafton, there are apparently 16 ways for Zois to die. Here are the currently known deaths in InZOI.
A Natural Death Of Old Age
InZOI allows players to witness characters’ journeys from birth to death at an old age. This natural death will happen 17 in-game days after a Zoi becomes a Senior. The only way to prolong this currently is to change how long the days last in the settings. Players will then get more time with their elderly Zois.
Run Over By A Car
Roads are dangerous, and this is no different in InZOI. However, it appears that Zois will only get run over by cars if players leave them in the middle of the road while driving a car with another Zoi. Minor accidents can also occur when two cars crash into one another.
Slipping & Falling
If utilities break down and the floor gets wet, players will want to make sure somebody mops up. Otherwise, there is a small chance that Zois can slip and fall to their death.
Swimming pools will be added at a later date during Early Access, according to InZOI’s roadmap. So perhaps removing ladders will someday be possible.
Fire
Fire will likely be one of the biggest killers in InZOI, especially if players alter their world settings to put fire prevention on the lowest level. There are firefighters, but they might not arrive in time. Fires can be started in the kitchen when cooking, or electrical items and broken utilities may catch fire if left for too long.
Electrocution
When appliances break down, help can be called in or players can pay for a replacement. Some Zois, however, may choose to attempt the repairs themselves. If they are unskilled, there is a chance of electrocution. In the city settings, players can set appliances to break more often.
Sleep Deprivation
Zois have a number of Needs, and one of these is sleep. If they have no access to beds, this will decrease, and they will grow increasingly lethargic. After many days without sleep, Zois will die of sleep deprivation.
Starvation
Starvation is a classic means of death in life simulation games. With autonomy on and food available in fridges or with cafes to visit, Zois will feed themselves. However, if players lock their characters in a room or force them to sit at a PC for around three days straight, they will die of hunger.
Food Poisoning
City sanitation levels can be set in the options, and when they are extremely low, the chances of eating something dodgy and dying from food poisoning increase.
Dying Of Embarrassment
The term ‘dying from embarrassment’ is often thrown around metaphorically. InZOI, on the other hand, makes this a reality. This type of death will likely occur from repeatedly having the embarrassed emotion. An example would be Zois being embarrassed after having an accident due to not being able to access a toilet.
Dying Of Anger
If Zois truly aren’t happy and are constantly angry with their life, relations, and the world around them, it is possible, in rare cases, to die from anger.
Dying Of Lack Of Recognition
All Zois require attention, even the less social ones. If they ever feel completely excluded from society and other things aren’t going great, they can eventually die from a lack of recognition.
What Happens When You Die In InZOI?
When one of your Zois dies in InZOI, a brief animation will play, followed by a pop-up message to explain the death and remember the Zoi’s life.
In the future, some Zois will be able to become ghosts if they have unfinished business. This feature is not available at the time of writing, however.
From here, players can either continue and deal with the death or they can choose to go back in time and load a previous save. Family members and friends will be devastated, and sad music will play for a while. When other Zois die, not controlled by the player, their own Zois might get messages on their phones informing them of their friend’s passing.
Can You Prevent Death In InZOI?
While you can go back to previous saves and prevent accidental deaths or lack of needs, all Zois will eventually die of old age. In the base game, there is currently no way to stop Zois from dying completely. For this, mods might come in handy.

Can Children Die In InZOI?
Thankfully, children cannot be killed in InZOI. Instead, if they are neglected for long enough, and some of their needs reach the Critical stage, they will be taken into care by the Child Protection Agency.
Teenagers can die in InZOI, just like adults.
At this point, players will be able to go back in time to a previous save, giving them a chance to do a better job at parenting. Alternatively, they can continue and have their adult Zois live with the consequences, never to be reunited.
