Here Are All The House Exclusive Quests In Hogwarts Legacy

How to Complete Minding Your Own Business (PlayStation-Exclusive Side Quest Guide)

Hogwarts Legacy presents players with the choice of which Hogwarts House they want to be part of at the end of the intro. This choice has a number of cosmetic effects on gameplay and also changes which of the House Dormitories the player has access to.

Along with the aforementioned changes, Hogwarts Legacy also has four exclusive story quests that can only be accessed by players who have selected a particular House. These quests all lead to them meeting the ghost of Jackdaw, who knows the location of missing pages from a book acquired earlier in the story and will start automatically once players have attended Herbology and Potions and learned about the Merlin Trials.

Updated on June 25, 2023 by Thomas Hawkins: Now that Hogwarts Legacy has been out for a few months, players looking to complete the game’s trophies/achievements will likely want to take on all of these quests as a trophy/achievement is associated with each of them. A new section has been added to explain where in the story they occur and how much of the game players will need to repeat in order to get all the associated achievements.

Updated on June 25th, 2025 by Thomas Hawkins: Hogwarts Legacy has received tons of updates since its release back in 2023, with major changes including official modding support on PC. Players who are trying the game for the first time might be curious about the wider lore implications of these quests, and how they tie into the world of Harry Potter as a whole, so this guide has been updated with some interesting trivia wherever possible.

How To Reach The House Exclusive Quests

Players hoping to access the exclusive quest of their house must first complete all the main story quests in the section “Living As a Student Until Professor Fig Returns.” As such it is quite difficult to rush through to the House Exclusive Quests from the start of the game, so players hoping to 100% the game will need to complete the first four sections of the main story at least four times in order to gain access to the exclusive quest for each of the Houses.

Gryffindor: The Hunt For The Missing Pages

Hogwarts-Legacy-Gryffindor-Common-Room

Gryffindor Students begin the Hunt for the Missing Pages by speaking to Nearly Headless Nick, who can be found floating around the House Hourglasses. As noted in other Harry Potter media, he’s hoping to join the Headless Hunt and wants to bring something to them in the hopes of impressing them.

This leads players to the secret entrance that allows them to enter the Hogwarts Kitchens, which is quite close to the Hufflepuff Common Room. A ticklish pear hides the door, and players can find a piece of rotten roast beef on a barrel inside. No doubt to account for Ghosts only being able to taste very faintly, needing strong tasting and often foul food in order to achieve any semblance of flavor.

From here, players must find a Pumpkin Field near the Hogsmeade Cemetery and meet the Headless Hunt, who deny Nearly Headless Nick for not being completely Headless and then take part in some ghostly hide-and-seek to find Richard Jackdaw’s head and finish the quest.

The Headless Hunt, and Nearly Headless Nick’s ongoing inability to join them, are mentioned during the Philosopher’s Stone Movie by Nearly Headless Nick. In the books they make a physical appearance at Nick’s five-hundredth Deathday Party, where their leader (Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore) offends Nick by once again pointing out that he was not properly decapitated like they were.

Later, they are shown participating in the Battle of Hogwarts during the Deathly Hallows (also only in the books), though how they contributed to the fight without physical form goes unmentioned. After Harry retrieves the Diadem from the Room of Requirement, they are noted to fly past him as he exits the room.

Hufflepuff: Prisoner Of Love

Hufflepuff students start this quest by speaking to the Portrait of Eldritch Diggory, who seems to know something about the book from the Restricted Section and believes it’s connected to a case his Great Niece once investigated.

Now a retired Auror, players must visit her to find out more. Helen Thistlewood explains that Richard Jackdaw’s death was blamed on a girl named Anne by Apollonia Black, who was jealous of Jackdaw and Anne’s relationship.

Anne was attempting to solve some sort of riddle Jackdaw gave her that would lead to her meeting up with him but was unable to solve it. Helen believes she may have solved it by now, but she’s in Azkaban and is reluctant to speak to people after years of torment at the hands of Dementors.

Helen suggests that a student of Hogwarts might be more familiar to Anne and thus be able to get through to her. A trip to Azkaban ensues, where players can speak to Anne and get clues about a cave in Upper Hogsfield.

Azkaban is a recurring Wizarding Prison that is mentioned throughout the Harry Potter Franchise, notably appearing in the title of the third book and the movie based on it. Azkaban prison is notorious for its use of Dementors to siphon all happiness and hope from those imprisoned there, often rendering them near catatonic and incapable of pondering escape. Long Term exposure frequently led to madness or death.

Azkaban is a fortress found on an island somewhere in the North Sea and has been rendered unplottable, preventing it from being shown on a map and ensuring that it cannot be found by those who are not meant to know where it is. Wands and devices capable of flight are not allowed beyond the entrance to further ensure the prisoners have no means of escape.

Inside the cave, players can find a puzzle involving six blocks that can be pulled using Accio. Using Revelio will turn some of them blue, and pulling these out will open up the path forward and allow players to grab the note Jackdaw left for Anne. On leaving, they’ll encounter Jackdaw’s ghost, and the quest will end.

Ravenclaw: Ollivander’s Heirloom

harry potter 2022

Ravenclaw students start this quest by helping Ollivander track down an heirloom wand that was stolen long ago by Richard Jackdaw. Ollivander suspects there are clues to where he hid it at the Hogwarts Owlery. Atop the Owlery are several small alcoves, and some of them have rings that can be pulled using the Accio spell, and some of these contain Jackdaw statues that are needed to continue.

The Ollivander family are considered the finest wand makers in Great Britain, and two wand shops belonging to the family are currently known. The first and more commonly mentioned location is the Wand Shop in Diagon Alley, whose front window displays a single wand on a purple cushion. Garrick Ollivander runs the shop in Diagon Alley in all Harry Potter Media so far, though the shop is boarded up when he goes missing sometime before Harry Potter: The Half-Blood Prince. After his rescue and the defeat of Voldemort, it is safe to assume he returned to operating the shop in Diagon Alley.

The other Ollivanders Location, found in the Wizard Village of Hogsmeade, is run by Gerbold Ollivander during the events of Hogwarts Legacy and is visited during this quest. Apparently, it was run by an associate of Garrick Ollivander (a Wandkeeper, to use the official term) later on during the 20th Century.

Collect the first three, put them in position where prompted, and then climb up the ladder to find more alcoves and two more statues. After these statues join the others, players are propelled to the top of the Owlery in a cutscene and meet with Jackdaw, who agrees to help them find the missing wand and pages.

Slytherin: Scrope’s Last Hope

Slytherin students start this quest with a message from a House Elf, who tells them to find a second note he has left for them in the Clocktower Courtyard, which isn’t too tricky to locate since it’s in the mouth of a Gryphon statue. Open it up to learn that the scavenger hunt isn’t over yet, and players should cross the wooden bridge to find another note.

This time it’s atop a rock on the left which can be reached by moving a crate into position using the Accio charm. This note offers a clue to the location of one final note, inside a pumpkin down the hill that must be smashed open using the Basic Cast. This finally leads players to an area near the broken docks to meet Scrope.

The Headmaster’s House Elf wants help retrieving a ring from a cave and claims that their previous master “Apollonia Black” knew something about the lost pages and used to use the cave as a study. Head on into the cave with a short swim and then investigate the pedestal by the mural. Accept a toast to open the path forward and check Apollina’s notes, at which point Jackdaw shows up, and the quest ends.

Apollonia Black is a member of the House of Black, a wizarding family often mentioned in the wider Harry Potter franchise. They were known to be one of the wealthiest British wizarding families and were often sorted into Slytherin House when attending Hogwarts.

Their lineage dates back to the Middle Ages, and they were known for what Sirius Black (ironically a black sheep of the family) referred to as “Pure-Blood Mania”, believing that the purity of their bloodline and their lineage made them superior and practically royalty. As Sirius notes, no “Pure-Blood” families exist anymore, with those obsessed with the idea simply purging muggle, muggleborn, and squib members of the family from the family tree out of denial.
