Black Ops 6 Players Blast Firing Range Remaster

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players aren’t happy with the recently revealed Firing Range remaster, with many blasting the new changes as “boring” and “bland.” The iconic map was first introduced in 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops and will return in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 on April 2, but many fans believe the changes made by Treyarch Studios have stripped Firing Range of its original aura.

First-person shooter fans who have yet to check out Treyarch Studios’ latest entry in the Black Ops series will soon be able to check out the fast-paced action of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 thanks to a new free trial. On April 2, Activision will officially release Season 3, filled with plenty of new content for players to sink their teeth into. On the very same day, the title will be going free-to-play for 24 hours due to Call of Duty: Warzone​​​​​’s lengthy server downtime. It’s currently unclear exactly what content fans will be able to play during the free trial period, but Activision has said the “entire Season 3 premium game” will be accessible, suggesting there will be no limit to which maps or modes will be available.

Black Ops 6 Fans Aren’t Happy With Firing Range Remaster

With the launch of Season 3 on April 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players will be able to jump back into Firing Range. The fan-favorite multiplayer map hasn’t been seen in a mainline Call of Duty title since 2018’s Black Ops 4, but its return has left a sour taste in many players’ mouths as fans are already blasting the remaster as “boring” and “bland.” In response to a post by ModernWarzone, Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope said that all of the map’s “aura” is gone, while content creator DannyonPC said the map “looks worse.” Plenty of other users seem to agree, as one Twitter user even labeled it as the “worst remaster in Call of Duty history.”

Firing Range is one of the three new maps coming to Black Ops 6 with the launch of Season 3, with two more also joining the line-up with the game’s mid-season update. Fans will be able to jump into Barrage, a new 6v6 multiplayer map set in 1968 Vietnam surrounding one Summit Watch at the front lines of the battle, and Nomad, a small-scale 6v6 and 2v2 map set in the ruins of a fortified settlement in Afghanistan. The release date for Black Ops 6‘s Season 3 Reloaded update is currently unconfirmed, but Activision has revealed Haven and Signal will be released alongside the patch, as well as a new Nuketown variant known as Blazetown.

Fans might not be happy with the remastered version of Firing Range, but there’s plenty more content for players to check out with the upcoming season. On March 27, Activision revealed the full Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 roadmap, sharing details on the returning Modern Warfare weapons such as the HDR Sniper Rifle, CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifle, and more. While many of these iconic weapons will be included in the Season 3 Battle Pass, players can get their hands on the Kilo 141 Assault Rifle by logging in to Call of Duty: Warzone during its server downtime between April 2 and April 3.
