The First Berserker: Khazan – Best Skills To Unlock First
Here are some of the best Skills you should unlock as early as possible in The First Berserker: Khazan!
Despite being the starting weapon type in the game, Dual Wield offers a solid and satisfying experience from start to finish, and the Skill Tree only makes it that much better, allowing you to be hyperaggressive while sprinking in some strong defensive options to keep applying pressure and damage on your targets!
Best Dual Wield Skills
The Dual Wield is an exceptionally strong weapon type in The First Berserker: Khazan, allowing you to focus on speedy and evasive attacks that can punish your opponent if used strategically. Even though it is a heavily offensive-focused weapon, its defensive options also make it feel surprisingly well-rounded overall.
While you won’t be as tanky as with the Greatsword or have the safe range as with the Spear, the Dual Wield will give you plenty to chew on if you love being overly aggressive and must be up close and personal with everything you encounter in these types of games. It’s rewarding and exhilarating to play with, so it will likely be what many stick with!
Best Swift Attack Skills
First up is the Swift Attack Skill Tree, which primarily focuses on your ‘light’ attack strings, allowing you to perform more actions during and after your combo, which can lead to massive damage. This Skill Tree plays an enormous part in getting the most out of the Dual Wield, so we strongly recommend not skimping out on it.

Best Potent Blow Skills
Following that is the Poten Blow Skill Tree, focusing on your ‘heavy’ attack strings, allowing them to hit substantially harder while also providing unique buffs that will help you overcome many challenging encounters if you can land them successfully. Please do not overlook this Skill Tree. It is tremendously strong!

Gale |
Khazan performs a charged Potent Blow, inflicting his target with the Injured Status Ailment and receiving the Vigor Effect in return. With each successful attack afterward, Khazan will gain a stack of Vigor, maxing out a ten stacks total, increasing his overall damage output. |
Gale: Scar |
Accumulated stacks of Vigor will detonate when landing a subsequent Gale attack. If you have ten stacks of Vigor built, all Vigor will be removed. |
Gale: Smash |
Vigor will now be detonated inside of Khazan’s target, greatly raising his Poise during the attack. Each time a charge of Vigor is detonated, Khazan will gain an additional stack of Vigor to extend its duration slightly. |
Best Frenzy Skills
Next up is the Frenzy Skill Tree, which brings unique actions into the mix that allow Khazan to unleash a barrage of attacks that can carve his opponent’s health away in seconds. While these Skills are devastating, they can be risky to implement, making it crucial to understand how they work so you don’t waste them or leave yourself vulnerable!

Ruthless (3/3) |
Khazan unleashes a rampage of attacks at a rapid rate, allowing him to continue his onslaught at the cost of more Stamina, culminating with a devastating finishing blow if the attack lasts long enough to generate more Attack Speed. |
Ruthless: Stamina |
Landing the finishing blow of Ruthless replenishes half of the Stamina used in the attack and changes it to an arcing strike. |
Ruthless: Strength |
When executing Ruthless, Khazan will have unlimited Poise, meaning the action cannot be interrupted. |
Wind Piercer (3/3) |
Hurl your axe forward and dash to it in the blink of an eye with a devastating follow-up attack that allows you to continue your pressure. |
Wind Piercer: Persistence |
The thrown axe remains in the area for a brief period and continues to damage the target as it violently spins in place. |
Wind Piercer: Mark |
At the cost of an additional Spirit Charge, the axe will remain spinning in place for an even longer duration, dealing substantially more damage over time. |
Best Penetrate Skills
Now, we have the Penetrate Skill Tree, which is where your more mobility and evase-focused Skills come into play, giving Khazan access to many abilities that keep him quick and deadly without expending too much of his Stamina, allowing him to stay on the offensive much longer. This is a crucial and potent Skill Tree for the Dual Wield!

Evading doesn’t use nearly as much Stamina, allowing Khazan to remain agile without having to worry about Exhuasting himself as often in combat. |

Deftness: Lightfoot |
The distance of your Dodge is substantially increased, and the damage output of Deftness is also raised. |
Disciplined Action |
Raises the Invincibility Duration on your Dodges based on your overall Agility Rating. |

Best Guard Skills
Lastly, we have the Guard Skill Tree, which, as you likely guessed, focuses on the more defense-focused Skills for the Dual Wield. Despite this Skill Tree being more tuned toward defense, there are still some potent Skills here, making them worth grabbing if you want a well-rounded build that can keep you alive while allowing you to remain deadly!

Blowback |
Landing a Brink Guard will damage your target, making perfect parrying even more viable than it already is. |
Blowback: Vengeance |
Perform a swift counterstrike after landing a Brink Guard, allowing you to follow it up further with Howling Blade or Whirlwind. |
Flash Cutter (3/3) |
Khazan rushes his target down, absorbing all incoming damage. If he is attacked as it is activated, he will perform a counterstrike. Otherwise, he can consume an additional Spirit Charge to pierce through targets for massive damage. |
Flash Cutter: Counter |
Breaks the target’s stance if they attack as the attack is activating, increasing the overall damage output of Flash Cutter. |
Flash Cutter: Decollation |
