Solo Leveling (Final Battle Arc)

The Final Battle Against Antares Was Splendid

  • Genre: Action, Dark Fantasy, Adventure, Shounen, Drama
  • Author: Chugong
  • Artist: Dubu (REDICE Studio)

Monarchs are the epitome of power in the Solo Leveling universe, boasting abilities that far surpass the power levels made by the Hunters Association. The world-building of this series created by the legendary Chu-Gong made fans believe that a possible clash between the strongest monarchs (The Shadow Monarch and the Dragon Monarch) would surely end up with the destruction of the world.

Looking for a manhwa about hunting paranormal beings? This subgenre may be niche, but it has a few hidden gems.

And during the final Arc, fans were able to witness the full power of Sung Jinwoo and his Shadow Army, against Antares, the Dragon Monarch, and his world-conquering horde of dragonkin. It was a colossal battle, where Igrit, Beru, and the strongest shadows of Jinwoo made their final stand as the Shadow Monarch himself confronted his nemesis in a full-scale battle. Needless to say, this was a magnificent display, with an outcome that the fans never expected. It has become one of the most satisfying endings in the genre.

2

Noblesse (Blood Stone Arc)

A Bittersweet Ending, For One Of The Greatest Action Manhwa

  • Genre: Action, Urban Fantasy, Supernatural, Gothic Horror, Shounen, Drama
  • Author: Son Jeho
  • Artist: Lee Kwangsu

With the Invasion of Lukedonia Arc coming to an end, the final battle for the Blood Stone begun, as both Werewolve Leaders faced each other in a bloody battle, while Frankenstein and Raskreia desperately attempted to prevent Raizel’s intervention in the battle. Needless to say, this could only end in one possible direction: with Raizel using all of his remaining power to stop the corruption of the Blood Stone, attempting to prevent another tragedy like the events that ended with the death of his brother.

In one breathtaking and heartbreaking swoop, Jeho Son dropped an information bomb right there at the edge of the final battle, making fans squirm as they went through the final moments of their beloved Raizel before he ultimately sacrificed himself for the greater good. And yet, despite all odds, telling them that Raizel would enter Eternal Sleep, he managed to pull through, allegedly weakened but able to return to his peaceful life. Fans got the incredible final battle and were able to see Raizel at his prime while also witnessing closure for most of the characters. Except for Raskreia, who got rejected.

3

The Gamer (The Door Arc)

Heartbreaking, Yet Makes Sense

  • Genre: Action, Martial Arts, Dystopian, Fantasy, Comedy
  • Author: Sung San-young
  • Artist: Sang-ah

When The Gamer started, Han Ji-Han was thrown into a world of sorcery, martial arts, and a weird shadow government that controlled the world behind the curtains. As a neet gamer, he decided to put the best of his newly earned magical skills to practice a game-like reality breaking intervention, which of course, ended up earning him the admiration of his friends and the scorn of his enemies.

One of its most notorious allies, Rasputin, predicted that he would attain (at some point) a near God-like power and save the world. This prediction was spot on, as Ji-Han faced Hadelaide in a final confrontation to save the world from collapsing, amassing an incredible amount of Karma and becoming the rightful God of Earth. And what could a Gamer God command as his first move as the new omnipotent being on Earth? Gaming for everyone. He democratized the system that made it possible for him to attain godhood, stabilizing reality, empowering all humans, and merging The Abyss (shadow world) and the regular world into one. The sad part is that this incredible ending also had a heartbreaking result for the ship between Ji-Han and Shiyeon, as they ended up parting ways without any kind of progress in their relationship. Disappointing, but fitting for the eternal Gamer.

4

Becoming The Monarch

By Far, One Of The Most Anti-Climatic, But Also One Of The Most Fulfilling Arcs

  • Genres: Medieval, Martial Arts, Action, Aventure, War & Conquest
  • Author: doip
  • Artist: SOULPUNG

Becoming The Monarch only had one possible ending, and the one that fans expected finally came to fruition: Chris Proudmont became the Emperor of the Continent, and an era of peace, honor, and chivalry began. But for all of that to happen, the final arc of this story, the conquest of the Elven Kingdom and the defeat of the Dragon King had to happen, and it was one hell of a Final Arc.

Throughout the adventure of Chris and his band of merry folks, we say them bleed together, laugh together, and form unbreakable bonds of friendship and camaraderie. Sadly, the only ship in the story (that of Alice and Chris) never came to be, which was terribly disappointing. The epilogue/ending was also a little bit low compared to the final Arc, since it showed an older Chris trying to continue the legacy of his spearmanship and find a rightful successor (and failing at doing so), which left many fans angry. Still, this doesn’t dilute the overall quality of the series, nor the powerful final Act in this Medieval Fantasy Action Manhwa.

5

Unholy Blood (Yohan’s Downfall Arc)

Died A Monster, But Left Fans With A Heart-wrenching Final Act

  • Genre: Action, Urban Fantasy, Gothic Horror, Supernatural
  • Author: Lina Im
  • Artist: Jeonghyeon Kim

Unholy Blood has one of the best approaches to Urban Fantasy and Vampire Gothic Horror fans will find in current Action Manhwa. And the author did a pretty decent job at maintaining a streamlined quality throughout the delivery of the Manhwa version, with the epic conclusion against Yohan (the vampire that originated the Epidemic and destroyed Hayan Park’s life).

Readers who love a relatable and witty main character are sure to enjoy manhwas where they are trapped inside a game with no way out.

Still, that ending made fans a little bit disappointed, because it showcased Yohan’s human side, with all his regret for the life he lost, and for everything that happened after he became a vampire. Needless to say, most readers agree that he got what he deserved: righteous punishment.

6

A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special (Priscilla’s Folly Arc)

Carrying The Weight Of The World On His Shoulders, A Hero Finds His Final Respite

  • Genre: Action, Fantasy, Adventure, Sword & Sorcery, Drama, Reincarnation
  • Author: Usonan
  • Artist: Wookjakga

Fate is not always in our favor, and in the last Arc of A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special, we saw Desir Arman desperately struggling against fate. He had a difficult choice to make: to save his world, or to save the woman who was like a mother to him. And though Priscilla surprised many fans with her big bad evil side, most of them knew it was all an act.

Desirs’ fate, everything that happened in the Shadow World, and the restructuring of reality by the System were all part of the epic conclusion of this incredible journey. And still, the author wanted to go differently than in the Light Novel, and decided that the romance route ended with a cliffhanger, not without finally seeing Romantica and Adjest clearly expressing what Desir meant to them and fighting it off in a final (though a little goofy) showdown. Even the bravest of heroes deserves his happy ending.

7

Leviathan (Burning Sun Arc)

A Masterpiece. Makes You Wonder Why No One Has Made An Anime Of This Yet

  • Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi, Dystopian
  • Author: Noh Miyoung
  • Artist: Lee Gyeong-Tak

What started as a tremendously well-designed Dystopian Sci-Fi Action Manhwa, ended up becoming so much more when Leviathan entered its final arc: The Burning Sun /Nest War Arc. Throughout a journey that crossed the line between action and romantic adventure more than once, we saw Botan become the most powerful Harpoonist the seas have ever seen, and Rita had a lot of growth and impact for the plot.

What fans didn’t expect to see is the developments that led to the founding of a new colony, and a place where Rita, Kana, and Botan could finally build a home. Surprisingly, the fact that Earth was beginning to heal led to a change in Botan: his urge for revenge quelled, his hopelessness replaced by a need for nesting, settling down alongside his beloved Kana. And yes, many fans have discussed the age-gap thing over and over, but it is undeniable that Leviathan had one of the most fulfilling endings ever made.
