Best Endgame Insect Glaive Build in Monster Hunter Wilds

Best Endgame Insect Glaive Build in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Insect Glaive features strong and fast attacks as well as exceptional mobility, making it an excellent weapon for players who want to hit hard and stay mobile in Monster Hunter Wilds. It works perfectly well on its own, but with the right build, players can take this weapon to new heights.

The following is an endgame build that focuses on improving the Insect Glaive’s DPS without committing fully to damage-only skills. There’s also a mid-High Rank version as well for players who are still trying to get the best armor skills in MH Wilds.

Here’s a quick rundown on Critical Range, the most important part of any ranged weapon’s kit in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Players who prefer to go all-in on damage can swap to the generic endgame armor setup using Fulgur Anjanath, Arkveld, and Guardian Arkveld pieces, as seen in this MH Wilds Switch Axe build.

Most of your damage with this build comes from Weakness Exploit, Burst, and Black Eclipse/Antivirus. Evade Window 5 is a great skill to have if you can time your dodge rolls properly — it will let you dodge a lot of attacks that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to, allowing you to stay within melee range without getting hit. You can replace this with Maximum Might if you prefer having more Affinity.

Mid-High Rank Alternative

If you’re still trying to increase your Hunter Rank, try using the Guardian Rathalos set with G Ebony Coil Beta

for Weakness Exploit 4 and Burst 1. This should result in a decent damage boost when you’re attacking weakpoints, and you’ll have plenty of level 2 decoration slots for things like Evade Window or Maximum Might as well.

Weapon Choice

The Insect Glaive’s fast attack speed makes it a good candidate for dealing elemental damage in MH Wilds, but you can’t go wrong with pure raw damage either.

An R8 Artian Insect Glaive built for Paralysis and a high Raw Attack stat will do well in just about any hunt, but if you can’t make one of those yet, we recommend Lala Stromatopelm

and fitting it with Attack Boost decorations.

Your choice of Kinsect is a matter of preference, though we recommend the Mauldrome tree of Kinsects since they deal Blunt damage, which will let you KO monsters with enough hits to the head.

Weapon Skills

Critical Boost is a great weapon skill to have for any build that has high Affinity. If you don’t have Critical Jewels, then Attack Jewels will suffice. In order to reach 100% crit chance with the four-piece Gore Magala set, you’ll need Maximum Might 3 and a weapon with at least 20% Affinity (like the Lala Stromatopelm).

Power Prolonger is another skill that players should consider when using an Insect Glaive as it will greatly increase the duration of your Kinsect Extracts. Also, consider using Handicraft, Razor Sharp, or Master’s Touch so you can stay in White Sharpness for longer.
