After playing as Naoe for essentially the entire opening of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll unlock Yasuke, gaining access to not only a new character, but an entirely new playstyle. While Naoe fills the role of the typical Assassin’s Creed protagonist, playing as Yasuke feels like something new for the series. He is, simply put, not an assassin. Yasuke overwhelms his foes using brute force, and when he is equipped with the right weapons, he is nigh unstoppable. With that in mind, this guide will show you where to find the best early-game weapons for Yasuke, including options for every weapon-type in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Best Early Game Long Katana For Yasuke – Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Turquoise Zephyr:
While Myth Slayer (found below) is technically the better overall weapon, you can find and use Turquoise Zephyr almost as soon as you unlock Yasuke. As a Legendary Long Katana, this weapon will be far superior to any of the lower-rarity swords Yasuke will find, so it is absolutely worth going after this weapon immediately. It will serve to perfectly bridge the gap until you reach level 22, and gain access to Myth Slayer.
Turquoise Zephyr is located in the Eagle’s Nest region of Yamashiro, which should be accessible by the time you unlock Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The weapon is found in a Legendary Chest that is found in a creek bed crevice, near the Kuji-kiri that sits perfectly between Eagle’s Nest and Shoryuji.
Turquoise Zephyr has a powerful Legendary Engraving in its own right, which makes it worth finding even later in the game. The sword’s stats are as follows:
- Legendary Engraving: Successful Parries push nearby enemies back.
- Key Stat: Adrenaline Gain – This sword boosts Adrenaline gain by increasing amounts as you level it. It does not cause any afflictions.
Myth Slayer:
Without a doubt, Myth Slayer is the best early-game option for Yasuke’s main weapon. Not only is it extremely powerful, it also happens to be incredibly cool. Luckily, you don’t have to go on any extensive search to find Myth Slayer, but you will likely have to level up a bit before being able to use it.
Myth Slayer’s Legendary Engraving is incredibly powerful, with many arguing it’s the best in the game. Having the engraving unlocked at the forge makes the collection of this weapon even more worthwhile.
- Legendary Engraving: Combo Enders are Postured and make enemies Vulnerable.
- Key Stat: Adrenaline Gain
Best Early Game Secondary Weapons for Yasuke – Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Best Early Game Bow for Yasuke – Blush of the Earth Legendary Bow:
Many of the best secondary weapons for Yasuke will come much later in the game, but there are very powerful options when you first unlock Yasuke. Blush of the Earth is one such option, giving Yasuke access to a Legendary Bow as soon as he becomes playable. Blush of the Earth is actually an incredible bow for players who use the Clear Mind skill.
- Legendary Engraving: Extend Clear Mind duration by 5 seconds
You can get Blush of the Earth by completing the Makino Kurumazuka Kofun in AC Shadows. This underground tomb is a bit tricky to complete, as only Yasuke can perform many of the actions required to get through. The bow is found in the Legendary Chest at the end of the tomb.
It is located in the Yawata Plains section of Izumi Settsu, just east of Takatsuki.
Best Early Game Kanobo for Yasuke – Rage of Red Mist:
The Rage of Red Mist Legendary Kanobo is one of the best in the game, and it can be found as soon as you unlock Yasuke. This Kanobo is great for players who enjoy using abilities, and will continue to be useful long after the early-game sections.
What makes Rage of Red Mist, so great is how fast it will fill adrenaline chunks. Remember too, that even if you find a Kanobo with an engraving that you like more, you can add this weapon’s Legendary Engraving once you fully upgrade the forge at AC Shadows’ Hideout.
- Legendary Engraving: 100% of an Adrenaline Chunk on Armor Break
You can find Rage of Red Mist in the Genbu Highlands province of Yamashiro. Head to the Grave of Buried Hopes, then walk out of the southeast corner of the graveyard. You’ll find a Legendary Chest in the woods behind a large building.
Best Early Game Teppo for Yasuke – Cascading Fear Legendary Teppo:
While there are a fair amount of lower-rarity Teppos that you can get through quests like the Kabukimono, Cascading Fear is the first Legendary Teppo that Yasuke can easily acquire. Even without the Legendary Engraving, any Legendary weapon simply seems to scale better as you level and upgrade your gear.
- Legendary Engraving: Kill enemies below 25% Health on headshots.
Cascading Fear is found in the Genbu Highlands province of Yamashiro. You want to head to the southeast corner of the Genbu Highlands, near its border with Kyoto. If you reach the Kinkakuji Temple, you’ve gone too far. You’ll find this weapon in a Legendary Chest at the Namikiri Fudoson Shrine. There is a massive statue at the shrine, and the chest is at the top of the hill directly behind it.
Best Early Game Naginata for Yasuke – Cerulean Nexus Legendary Naginata:
Like the other secondary weapons in this guide, you’ll eventually find a much better Naginata later in the game. But if you are looking for the best option directly after unlocking Yasuke, Cerulean Nexus is your best bet.
- Legendary Engraving: Increased impact on Shoulder Tackle
Cerulean Nexus can be acquired very quickly through the “Projects” section of the Animus. These are structured like “Battle Passes”, except they require no actual money. Instead, you must complete the anomalies found around the map. These are very easy missions that reward you with XP and Data Fragments. Cerulean Nexus is only the fourth reward, so you can unlock it very quickly if you try.
