Summary
- An alleged leak of Battlefield 6 concept art has surfaced.
- The art depicts war-town cities like Los Angeles and New York.
- According to a report from Insider Gaming, Battlefield 6 will be set in the modern day.
DICE and Electronic Arts have yet to unveil Battlefield 6, but leaks from the ongoing playtests (via Battlefield Labs) have been near-constant since they began. Now, an alleged new leak from an unverified source has cropped up on the game’s subreddit, courtesy of Hero-TK.
While the anonymous source isn’t a known insider, the concept art shown does fit thematically with the Battlefield series, and the images haven’t appeared elsewhere online. There are 20 images in total, showcasing military equipment and potential maps.
World War 3?
Two of the most striking images depict a war-torn Los Angeles. There’s an image of a soldier standing on a burned-out rendition of Sunset Boulevard, with destroyed vehicles strewn around. Another image shows a street sign for the iconic boulevard floating in the water as an attack boat powers past. The next image is a golf course reminiscent of Los Angeles (I’ve played enough golf in Grand Theft Auto 5 to know), with military aircraft flying overhead.
The other images are from other parts of the world: a couple appear to show New York, there’s a Mediterranean townscape, ravaged European fields, a Middle-Eastern city and more unknown locations.
Insider Gaming has previously reported that Battlefield 6 will feature a modern setting, focusing on a war between North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) forces and a “massive” private military group.
As pointed out by astute military enthusiasts in the thread’s comment section, there are several recreations of modern military vehicles depicted in the alleged concept art. There are German Leopard 2s and C1 Arietes, modern battle tanks used by the German and Italian armies respectively.
There’s also discussion about where certain countries will fall in the fictional conflict. Although Italy is a founding member of NATO, there’s speculation that Italy and other countries could side against the alliance, enabling a conflict between two evenly-matched sides with modern military equipment.
Electronic Arts chief executive officer Andrew Wilson previously stated that the publisher may delay the release of Battlefield 6 to 2026 due to “some things happening in the year that may cause us to think differently about our launch timing.” This could also potentially delay the official announcement of the game.
