How Avowed Takes a Fantasy Staple to the Next Level

In general, Avowed does fantasy really well, but one of its best combat playstyles, in particular, sets a new precedent for a staple in the genre.

Avowed recently received Update 1.31, which improves a few UI elements and addresses a handful of bugs that have plagued the RPG. Most notably, the patch also comes with a few “community requested features,” which include an option for “high contrast support” in some UI screens and a Native Anti-Aliasing option for FSR. Additionally, the new update will provide performance improvements on the Xbox Series X/S, improving the game when played on the Beauty and Balanced modes in larger cities.

Overall, this is a fairly simple patch, much smaller than the previous Avowed update. In Update 1.3.0, many bugs were corrected, and some significant tweaks were implemented. One of the most relevant changes after Update 1.3.0 is that gamers received an additional talent point every five levels, allowing for builds with a wider variety of options.

Unfortunately, none of these updates have brought features such as a New Game Plus to Avowed. Among its community, the New Game Plus is one of the most asked-for features in Avowed, as some gamers believe that the endgame is somewhat lacking. The issue is that some players collect powerful items and have strong powers by the end of the journey, and feel that they cannot employ them against a wider variety of foes after the point of no return.

It’s still unknown if Avowed will ever feature a New Game Plus. However, Obsidian recently promised to unveil an official roadmap for Avowed’s future updates. According to the studio, the action RPG will still get more updates throughout 2025, and the roadmap will be revealed in the coming months. It’s not known if these updates will include only small tweaks and additions, or more substantial changes such as a paid expansion, though.
