Summary
- Raidou Remastered: The Mystery Of The Soulless Army director Kazayuki Yamai has teased the possibility of more Raidou games in the future.
- In a video showcasing the game, Yamai says that he’d like the character to play an “active role” in Atlus’ future, but admits he “can’t say for sure” whether he will.
Earlier today, Atlus managed to surprise its fans by revealing a remaster of Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha Vs. The Soulless Army during the Nintendo Direct. It’s more of a niche offshoot of the Shin Megami Tensei series, and like most of them, it has a very dedicated following that will likely be thrilled to see the series return on modern consoles.
Shortly after the announcement, Atlus uploaded a spotlight video to its official YouTube channel, going over all the changes and improvements that are coming to the remaster. During the video, director Kazayuki Yamai was quizzed about why Raidou is returning now, and what his revival means for the future of the series.
Atlus Wants Raidou To Play An “Active Role” In The Studio’s Future
Yamai explains that a potential return to Raidou was always on his mind whenever he finished a project, but believes that due to the troubled times we currently live in, the game’s themes are still very relevant. He then goes on to explain that he hopes Raidou continues to play an “active role” in the future.
“Of course, since he’s made his return, I don’t want things to end here. I can’t say for sure, but I also hope that Raidou will continue to play an active role in the future.”
While it’s not confirmed just yet, it does sound like the possibility of a new Raidou game is stronger than it has ever been before. It makes sense, given both Shin Megami Tensei and Persona have risen in popularity over the years, so maybe Atlus wants to see if other offshoots of SMT can perform just as well. If it does, we can probably expect more in the future.
We all know that Persona is the main bread winner for Atlus though, and it does sound as though the studio is busy with Persona games at the moment. Of course, we’re still waiting on Persona 6 to be announced, while the existence of a domain name connected to Persona 4 suggests a remake may be a lot closer than we initially expected. A new Raidou game could be made between then, but it definitely feels like Persona is the focus right now.
