Few modern blockbuster games don’t have battle pass systems anymore. Even Assassin’s Creed Shadows, a single-player game, has its own version of a battle pass. Here, they’re called Projects.

We show you the locations of the crests that Ota needs in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
Much like in battle royales, shooters, and other online competitive games, you get rewards like weapons and armour for completing challenges. However, it’s not immediately clear in Assassin’s Creed Shadows how Projects work and what you need to do to start them.
Projects, Explained
As we said, Projects work a little like battle passes do in the traditional sense. You need to earn Data Fragments to progress through tiers in a Project. Then, as you hit new tiers, you unlock rewards.
You earn Data Fragments in Assassin’s Creed Shadows by completing Anomalies, which are Animus-focused quests which ask you to do things like collect a few of an object or kill a number of enemies in an area. You can start and track those Anomalies from the Objectives board in the pause menu.
You can only track and work towards completing one Project at a time in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You can switch between them whenever you want, but Data Fragments you earn will only count towards the Project you currently have active.
How To Start Projects
You access the Projects in Assassin’s Creed Shadows via the Animus menu. The easiest way to reach that section and see what Project you have active is to enter the Objectives screen and move the cursor to the Animus section at the top.
From there, hold Square if you’re on PlayStation or X on Xbox to enter Projects menu. That’ll show you your current progress through your currently active Project.
To start tracking a quest that’ll help you work through the Project’s tiers, you need to track an Anomaly. You can do that via the Animus menu or the Objectives screen.
Choose the Anomaly you’d like to track and it will be shown with an objective marker like any other quest in the game. Head to the highlighted location to complete the task.
Once you’ve done whatever is needed, you’ll be awarded with Data Fragments and you can check if you’ve unlocked the next tier in your Project.
