This set includes 18 unique cards. That’s seven iconic characters, five internet meme sensations, and six land cards. With some of the most prevalent characters, such as Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, and Mr. Krabs all get the card treatment, there are so many other characters that also deserve the same treatment.

Patchy The Pirate

SpongeBob’s Number One Fan

If any character deserves a spotlight as a Magic: The Gathering card, it’s Patchy the Pirate. This live-action character is played by Tom Kenny himself as he gets hyped up about meeting his idol, SpongeBob SquarePants.

Of course, things don’t always go as planned. In one episode, the invitation he sends out to SpongeBob is unreadable after being exposed to water. In other instances, the fabled Lost Episode gets destroyed in the VCR machine. Still, with all that bootleg SpongeBob merchandise in his room, Patchy has earned a spot.

Bubble Bass

You Forgot The Pickles

Bubble Bass’s most iconic episode and first appearance is in Pickles. This is where he accuses SpongeBob of forgetting to put pickles in his Krabby Patty. This sends SpongeBob on a downward spiral as he doubts his own ability to make the iconic burger.

Of course, Bubble Bass is a liar, and the pickles were under his tongue the entire time. Since then, Bubble Bass continued as a background character before being given a more prominent role in the later seasons. Still, his reputation makes him iconic enough to warrant inclusion.

Karen

Plankton’s Robot Wife

If there’s one Karen that everyone loves, it’s Plankton’s robot wife. She can be sarcastic at times and even shows that she can be smarter than her husband on multiple occasions. Despite seeming like she only puts up with Plankton’s big-brained schemes to steal the secret formula, there is a genuine connection there.

In the later seasons, Karen has become just as expressive as all the other characters under the sea. With Plankton already having a Magic: The Gathering card, it would be the perfect opportunity to bring both characters together once more.

Larry The Lobster

A Chill Guy

Larry the Lobster is one of the chillest residents of Bikini Bottom. Even when kicking his own parents out of Goo Lagoon, he does so in a way that they take no offense to it. Aside from Sandy, he is one of the strongest characters in the entire show.

Overall, Larry may be a side character, but he’s such a swell guy. He acts as a lifeguard, is always friendly, and usually doesn’t get too angry at SpongeBob unless he really messes up. His big muscles deserve to be printed in the finest quality of cardboard.

Mermaid Man And Barnacle Boy

Evil?

Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy may be two separate characters, but they are almost always seen together. These retired heroes once defended the seven seas, but now lead a life of retirement with only a little bit of action.

Some of that action includes eating their breakfast, attempting to reprise their roles for an upcoming movie, and even the occasional disagreement as to whether Barnacle Boy can finish an adult Krabby Patty or not. This dynamic duo have plenty of ways to be represented, whether through their older selves or their vintage designs from their prime years.

Ms. Puff

A Life Of Crime

One of the golden rules of SpongeBob is that he can never get his driver’s license. All his failed attempts come at the expense of Mr. Puff, who often ends up in the hospital or in jail due to her students’ antics. Of course, she doesn’t always mind the time away from SpongeBob.

Ms. Puff is not only iconic but one of the oldest characters in the series. Though she may be absent from the first SpongeBob collection in Magic: The Gathering, there is always hope that she can make her debut.

Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen

He Was Number One

If Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen ever gets a printing in Magic: The Gathering, every other deck will need to pack up their bags and go. After all, he is number one. Not only is this a great SpongeBob meme, but an excellent payoff to a throwaway name Mr. Krabs gives to get his hat to sell faster.

It turns out there really is a Smitty Werbenjagermanjenses, and he was indeed number one. Mr Krabs finds this out the hard way as he is attacked by the skeletons in the graveyard. An iconic character that only appears once but remains cemented into the minds of SpongeBob fans everywhere.

DoodleBob

Despite only having one major episode, DoodleBob remains one of the most iconic characters in the show’s history. Drawn to life by a magic pencil, this doodle attempts to steal SpongeBob’s place by erasing him out of existence.

This is one chaotic character that will either wait for a Magic: The Gathering rendition or make one himself. With a unique art style, DoodleBob would feel right at home scribbled on a piece of cardboard. Though he may be happier as a rare doodle. Just hope he doesn’t come to life.

Squilliam Fancyson

Squidward’s Rival

If you ever thought Squidward could seem full of himself, then you have yet to meet Squilliam Fancyson. This squid is rich, accomplished, and even owns his own band. This of course, makes Squidward jealous and eager to show him up.

Squilliam Fancyson is the rival that you want to see go down. He is one of the few characters who manages to get under Squidward’s skin on purpose. Of course, if he does get a printing in Magic: The Gathering, it would only make sense to give him a more refined design than Squidward just to keep the rivalry going.

A Terrifying Ghost From The Sea

One of Bikini Bottom’s legends is none other than the Flying Dutchman himself. With a creepy green mist following him and his ship, he is the true terror of the seas. From burying his treasure around Bikini Bottom to haunting those who try to dress up as him for Halloween, The Flying Dutchman is a true menace.

Of course, such a legendary character deserves to be a Legendary Creature card in Magic: The Gathering. His ghostly ship also makes for the perfect backdrop in these full art cards.
