Call of Duty: Warzone will be offline for 24 hours in preparation for the launch of Season 3 on April 3, publisher Activision has confirmed. The upcoming season of Call of Duty: Warzone will see the triumphant return of Verdansk, the Battle Royale title’s very first large-scale map. Fans can also expect a plethora of classic quality-of-life improvements, weapons, and more to make their return with Season 3.
Earlier this month, Activision announced it would be delaying the launch of Call of Duty Season 3. The studio called the upcoming content update a “big moment” for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, which is why an additional two weeks of development time was required to ensure the new season was the best it could possibly be for fans. While Season 3 was initially slated to launch on March 20, Black Ops 6 fans will be able to jump into the new season on April 2, followed by Warzone on April 3. The staggered release is an uncommon approach for Call of Duty, but with some huge content on the way for Warzone players, there seems to be a good reason for it.

Call of Duty: Warzone Server Downtime Schedule for April 2 – 3
- April 2 = Warzone servers go offline and Season 3 begins in Black Ops 6.
- April 3 = Warzone servers come back online with Verdansk and Season 3.
The lengthy server downtime will be a big disappointment to many players, but it’s not without good reason. When Season 3 officially launches on April 3, Call of Duty: Warzone fans will once again be able to jump into a massively improved version of Verdansk. After being removed from the game in December 2021, Verdansk is finally returning to Warzone after almost three and a half years. While the map will be similar to the version introduced in 2020, developer Beenox has made some significant visual improvements and changes. Verdansk has been rebuilt from the ground up with stunning new textures and visuals, as well as some minor map changes to allow for extra cover when rotating between POIs.
It’s not just Verdansk that’s making a big comeback with Season 3 either, as Activision has also confirmed a plethora of classic features and gameplay adjustments will be returning. As part of the Season 3 Battle Pass, fans will be able to unlock some classic weapons from 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, including the Kilo 141, AMAX, HDR, and more. Various fan-favorite features will also be making a return with Warzone Season 3, including floating loot, classic vehicles, the original gulag, 150-player lobbies, and much more.
