The Sharingan from Naruto is notorious for having some of the most diverse abilities in the anime. When the Sharingan evolves into the Mangekyo Sharingan, it grants the user unique powers that would be impossible for a normal Shinobi to deal with.

The Sharingan was certainly not intended to be this strong during the start of Naruto. Just the base Sharingan allows its user to see the chakra flow, predict the opponent’s movements, and even copy their techniques. When you get to the Mangekyo variant, you see powers that are borderline hack abilities.

Movement Prediction
Base Three-Tomoe Sharingan’s Ability
Once it completely matures with three tomoes, the base Sharingan gets the ability to almost predict the future. It does this by closely monitoring the muscle fibers of the opponent and predicting their next movement based on the muscles flexing.
This allows the user to see after-images of the opponent’s next move, effectively predicting the future and allowing the user to anticipate the opponent’s movement. This is a very strong ability, but it won’t work on opponents who are significantly faster than the Sharingan user.

Amaterasu
Itachi And Sasuke’s Mangekyo Ability That Produces Black Flames
The Amaterasu is a unique power that is exclusive to Sasuke and Itachi. It produces black flames that keep burning until the target is completely turned to ash. There is no other way to put out the flames.
Either Itachi or Sasuke can aim the flames toward whatever they look at. However, the flames are not instantaneous and can be dodged by relatively fast ninjas. It also takes a toll on the user’s eye, making it strain and bleed.

Izanagi And Izanami
Mangekyo Sharingan’s Abilities To Rewrite Reality And Create Loops
Izanagi and Izanami are general Mangekyo Sharingan abilities that hold the power to rewrite or control another individual’s reality. The Izanagi casts a Genjutsu on the user, allowing them to redo certain events. Izanami is the counter to Izanagi, trapping the Izanagi user in an eternal loop until they accept reality.
Both of these abilities come at the cost of the user’s eye. While incredibly overpowered, Izanagi will only give you a few more chances at life. With your eyes gone, you are much weaker and can easily lose the battle even after rewriting reality. Izanami, on the other hand, will simply not work on an opponent that already accepts reality.

Flame Control
Sasuke’s Mangekyo Ability That Controls Black Flames
Flame control is one of Sasuke’s most versatile abilities. It allows him to control the flames of Amaterasu as he pleases, something Itachi was unable to do. This also makes Amaterasu significantly more useful against enemies fast enough to dodge it.
The potential for flame control is limitless. Sasuke can use it both defensively and offensively. Stacking it on top of the Susanoo makes it impossible for anyone to attack Sasuke physically. Only the strongest Shinobi in Naruto can deal with this move.

Susanoo
Dual Mangekyo Sharingan’s Ability To Make Gigantic Humanoid Chakra
The Susanoo is shared among every Uchiha with a Mangekyo Sharingan in both of their eyes. It produces a gigantic chakra around the user that can both defend and attack at the same time. The chakra often holds weapons that suit the user’s arsenal.

Tsukuyomi
Itachi’s Mangekyo Ability That Produces Space-Time Manipulating Genjutsu
Itachi’s Mangekyo Sharingan allows him to cast a Genjutsu that controls space and time. It’s up to Itachi to decide how long he wants someone trapped inside the Tsukuyomi. Mere moments in the real world could be days, weeks, or even years inside the Tsukuyomi.
This makes it nearly impossible to counter. Even if you have teammates that could break you out of the Genjutsu, Itachi would’ve already tortured and broken the mind of whoever got hit by it. The only counter is to be an Uchiha clan member and have visual prowess stronger than Itachi.

Shisui’s Mangekyo Ability That Manipulates Reality
Kotoamatsukami is a type of Genjutsu that doesn’t require Shisui’s enemy to look into his eyes. Anyone in Shisui’s sight will fall victim to Kotoamatsukami. Shisui’s right eye allows him to manipulate the enemy’s thoughts and control their entire perception. This Genjutsu is breakable once the opponent realizes that they’re under a Genjutsu.
Shisui’s left eye casts a Genjutsu that affects the opponent on a subconscious level, altering any memories necessary to carry out whatever command Shisui lays out. This Genjutsu is completely unbreakable and is one of the most overpowered abilities in the entire Naruto universe.

Kamui
Obito’s Mangekyo Ability That Connects To A Pocket Dimension
Obito’s Mangekyo Sharingan has the strongest ability by far. Obito’s right eye allows him to teleport himself or other people close to him into the Kamui dimension. The eye he gave to Kakashi can snipe from further away and teleport the target in its sight to the Kamui dimension.
While Kakashi’s non-Uchiha body nerfs the eye quite a bit, the way Obito uses it almost seems unfair. He can teleport part of himself to the Kamui dimension while still remaining visible in the real world, making it seem like every attack is going through him. As we saw with Kakashi at the end of Naruto Shippuden, if Obito had both of his eyes, he would’ve been unstoppable.
