Some of Warframe’s
strangest weapons are Infested in origin. These weapons trade raw base stats for unique gimmicks, such as lifesteal effects or intrinsic combined elemental damage. The Pathocyst mixes things up by giving you an army of Infested maggots simply by using the weapon.

If you love Glaives and want to mix it up a bit, the Pathocyst is the perfect choice. And thanks to the Technocyst Coda, it’s possible to get a version of the Pathocyst that deals significantly more damage, enough to take the weapon to endgame Steel Path content. Let’s go over how to get this weapon and how to best build it.
How To Obtain The Pathocyst
The Pathocyst is a melee weapon you can craft by defeating the Zealoid Prelate boss on Exequias, Deimos. Slaying the Prelate will drop a random blueprint for the weapon, including its main blueprint. Craft all the components to forge the weapon itself.
Once you’ve completed ”
The Hex
” quest and unlocked the Hollvania hub, you can start to fight Technocyte Coda to get your hands on Live Heartcells. Bring the currency to Eleanor in the Hollvania hub, and you can purchase a Coda weapon from her shop. One of these weapons can be the Coda Pathocyst, which is in Rotation B of her store. If the Pathocyst isn’t available, wait a few days before speaking with Eleanor again.

The Pathocyst is an Infested Glaive that spawns maggots with each attack, both melee hits and mid-flight attacks These maggots behave similarly to Nidus’ maggots from his ultimate, latching onto targets before stunning them. While they don’t deal much damage, they can be a useful crowd control tool.
While this weapon doesn’t have the raw stats of the Glaive Prim, the Pathocyst is a solid Glaive weapon for heavy attack builds, featuring high critical stats and base damage. Both variants of this weapon feature slow attack speed, so consider some attack speed mods if you plan to use the Glaive as an actual melee weapon.

Pathocyst Builds
We’ll be looking at a heavy attack build for the Pathocyst in this guide, focusing on scaling your status damage through critical stats,
Galvanized mods
, and the fantastic Melee Influence Arcane to pump some absurd DPS numbers. If possible, try to get your hands on the Coda Pathocyst before you start investing resources into this build.
Endgame Build
Use Galvanized Reflex and Galvanized Elementalist in this build. Overframe doesn’t have these mods available at the time of creation of this build.
Reflex will give you a ton of initial combo multiplier and heavy attack efficiency to spam your heavy attack, while Galvanized Elementalist gives you some much-needed status chance.

This build focuses on scaling the heavy attack of the Pathocyst as much as possible. We’ll be using Melee Influence to make our status procs spread when we trigger Electricity, which we can do through Focus Energy. To make the most of Melee Influence, we recommend Blast damage—created using Vicious Frost and Volcanic Edge.
For damage scaling, we use Galvanized Elementalist to scale our Blast damage explosions, Galvanized Reflex to cap our heavy attack efficiency while giving us some much-needed initial combo, and Primed Pressure Point for base damage. You’ll also want to scale the critical stats of this weapon through Sacrificial Steel and Amalgam Organ Shatter.
All together, you have a Glaive that can pump some serious damage and clear dozens of enemies if Melee Influence activates. If you’re struggling to get Electricity status procs, feel free to improve your status chance further with Weeping Wounds in place of Galvanized Reflex.
