Season 3 of Reacher began with the titular character reaching Maine for another mission. However, things are not as simple as they seem to be. In the very initial moments of the season, Reacher saves a college-going kid from being abducted and in the process, kills a cop. It turns out that the kid, named Richard Beck, is the only son of a reputed businessman named Zachary Beck (played by Anthony Michael Hall). Richard tells Reacher to come to his house because his father has all the resources to save him. After giving it a lot of thought, Reacher meets Zachary Beck and becomes an integral part of his team. However, it is soon revealed that Reacher has infiltrated Beck’s house as part of a carefully devised plan orchestrated by him and DEA Agent Susan Duffy (played by Sonya Cassidy). As the season progresses, Reacher, one by one, kills all the important people in Beck’s team to learn about his illegal business.

On the other hand, the former US general sees an old enemy, Xavier Quinn (played by Brian Tee), and gets shocked after seeing him alive because he thought he had killed him years ago. During flashback sequences, viewers get to know that Reacher came across Quinn while working on a case in which he was selling weapons blueprints to enemy nations. Most importantly, Quinn was a former member of the forces as well. While working on the case, Reacher was helped by Dominique Kohl, who gave him important updates about the case and assisted him in every sense. When they get the evidence against Quinn, Reacher tells Kohl to go and make the arrest. However, when she doesn’t return, Reacher begins to panic and initiates a search operation. After searching for a while for Kohl and learning about Quinn’s past, Reacher makes his way to one of Quinn’s properties and moves inside a barn. As soon as he reaches the barn, he sees Kohl’s lifeless body tied in mid-air. The flashback sequences end with Reacher shooting Quinn, and he falls into the sea. Unfortunately, he survived, but lost all his memory. Now, he is running an illegal weapons business and giving them to enemy nations.

As the season progressed, it was clear that Beck was just a pawn and everything was being controlled by Quinn, who now goes by the name of Julius McCabe. But Reacher is not alone in this case and is supported by Duffy. For Duffy, this case is more personal because one of her informants, Teresa Daniels, has been taken away from Quinn. She believes Teresa is still alive, and she wants to rescue her. Moreover, she knows that Reacher is the only guy who could help her in this case. As a result, she takes Reacher’s help with the case. In the penultimate episode, Neagley also becomes a part of the team and helps accomplish the mission. They get to know that the weapons exchange will take place at a yard, and they make plans to foil the attempt. Reacher, Duffy, Neagley, and the ATF try to stop the deal from happening. But it seems Quinn is a mastermind himself and outshines Reacher by doing the deal at Beck’s house.

The explosive finale of Reacher Season 3, titled Unfinished Business, kicks off with an intense standoff at the yard. After a crucial phone call with Neagley, Reacher learns that Quinn has deployed his men to eliminate Beck and others at the location. Wasting no time, Reacher launches into action, swiftly taking down one of Quinn’s operatives. Chaos erupts as a violent clash ensues, resulting in heavy casualties among ATF agents and Quinn’s men. However, one of Quinn’s men survives and attempts to alert his boss. Reacher intervenes, forcing him to delete the message and instead report that everything is under control. Meanwhile, Neagley informs Reacher that Tehran buyers have arrived at Beck’s house, signaling that the exchange is imminent. To intercept the deal, Reacher devises a plan to infiltrate Beck’s property using Quinn’s trucks, aiming to stop the trade and rescue Richard Beck and Teresa Daniels. When Neagley questions how they’ll handle Paulie, a formidable opponent, Reacher assures her—he’ll take care of it.

Inside the house, Quinn is eager to push the deal forward, urging the buyers to finalize it quickly. To sweeten the deal, he shows their boss a photo of Teresa, hinting at a “special gift” waiting upstairs. However, the buyers seem more interested in indulging themselves before making a decision. Meanwhile, Duffy, Neagley, Beck, and Guillermo infiltrate the house, each with a specific role in Reacher’s plan. Neagley blends in with the catering staff to monitor Quinn and the buyers, Guillermo is tasked with rescuing Richard, and Duffy sets out to find Teresa. Disguised as a server, Neagley keeps a close eye on Quinn’s movements. Meanwhile, Guillermo navigates the house but is intercepted by one of Quinn’s security guards. His attempt to talk his way out fails, triggering a brutal fight. Though initially overpowered, Guillermo fights back and ultimately takes down the guard before discovering Richard in a bathroom. Elsewhere, Duffy rescued Teresa Daniels.

On the other hand, a brutal fight between Paulie (played by Olivier Richters) and Reacher takes place in the outer premises of Beck’s property. Reacher seems to have the upper hand initially, but Paulie snaps and showcases his brute strength. He continues to punch the titular character while showing that he is not just strong, but also has the flexibility to move faster. During the fight, there were certain moments when it looked like there was a clear winner. But no, the makers did a wonderful job in making the fight meaty and including scenes that showed what these two titans were capable of. In one of the scenes, Paulie drags the body of Reacher and chains his neck while pulling him, and tying him in mid-air. He thought he had killed Reacher, but he used his strength and mind to get out of the situation. The fight continues until the time they both fall off a cliff and fall into the river. Even then, these two giants continued fighting and outclassed each other. Reacher was finally able to fend Paulie off in the sea and made his way to the mainland. But things didn’t stop there. While moving toward Beck’s property, he finds out that Paulie survived and follows him to the property.

The fight ends with Reacher out-thinking Paulie and killing him with the big gun that was hanging in Paulie’s security room.

Quinn realizes who Reacher really is

Quinn proves his ruthlessness once again by betraying the Tehran buyers, gunning down their men instead of finalizing the deal. Meanwhile, as Richard moves through the hallways, he crosses paths with Quinn, who drags him into Beck’s office, where an arsenal of weapons is stored. While retrieving a gun from the cabinet, Quinn is confronted by Beck, who warns him that if anything happens to his son, he will kill him. Holding a firearm that Richard had gifted him for his birthday, Beck stands his ground. Sensing the tension, Quinn momentarily drops the machine gun, allowing Richard to move toward his father. Just as Beck prepares to fire, the gun malfunctions—the result of earlier damage that Richard had tried to repair in the previous episode. Realizing Beck’s weapon is useless, Quinn acts swiftly and kills him on the spot. Seizing the moment, Richard manages to escape before Quinn can strike again.

In the concluding moments of the finale, Quinn was trying to run away from Beck’s house. However, he is stopped in his tracks by the Russian mob, who want their money back. Reacher comes from the back and tells the Russians that he wants Quinn for himself. The Russian mob says they want their money back, and Neagley comes out with a bag of cash and proposes a barter: Cash for Quinn. At first, the Russians were not thinking about this proposal. However, they thought that they had their money and didn’t want Quinn. So, they give Quinn back to Reacher and leave. With a shotgun in his hand, Reacher asks if he remembers him. To which Quinn says that he doesn’t remember him. Reacher says that it doesn’t matter, but he should know that the woman he killed a few years ago, her name was Dominique Kohl. Quinn realizes what Reacher was talking about, and before he could do anything, Reacher kills him.

Season 3 ends with Duffy telling Reacher that she is not looking to be in a relationship and doesn’t want to enter anything at this moment. Reacher jokes about Duffy taking his lines because he is the one who says such things. On the other hand, Richard takes all the money kept in the house and leaves the property to start a new life, while Duffy takes Teresa to her grandmother. Reacher gets on the bike and resumes his journey.

Season 3 of Reacher is available for streaming on Prime Video.
