Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Shining Revelries Adds Two New Rarities

Pokemon TCG Pocket's Shining Revelries Adds Two New Rarities

Summary

  • Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Shining Revelry expansion is now live.
  • The set includes two new rarities exclusively for shiny Pokemon.
  • There are ten cards with a one shiny star rarity, and four with a two shiny star rarity.

Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Shining Revelry booster pack is available in-game starting today, adding more than 100 new cards to collect. Not only do the cards cover all of Pocket’s pre-existing rarity levels, but the expansion is the first in the game to bring some of its own.

Since the focus of Shining Revelry is shiny Pokemon, the two new rarities have been applied to them. As far as I can tell, all of the shiny Pokemon cards in Shining Revelry have one of the two new rarities attached. Most of them have the new one shiny star rarity level, while four have a two shiny star rarity.

Forget New Cards, Pokemon Pocket’s New Update Adds More Deck Slots

Pokemon Pocket is finally adding more deck slots.

That means the shiny hunt has officially found its way to Pocket starting today, and even though the cards with new rarities will be hard to find, they aren’t quite as rare as some of Pocket’s rarest cards. With a 0.16 percent chance of pulling one via your fifth card in any given Shining Revelry pack, crown rares will still be the hardest cards to find in the new expansion.

Just one crown rare card has been added via Shining Revelry – a Poke Ball.

The new two-star shiny rarity doesn’t even have the honor of being the second rarest card type in Pocket. You have a 0.888 percent chance of drawing a regular three-star card in Shining Revelry, which means they’re still the second rarest card. The third rarest card type now, however, is the new shiny two-star rarity. There are four of them to collect, and you have a 1.333 percent chance of seeing one every time you reveal the fifth and final card in your pack.

The other ten shiny cards added today have been given a one-star shiny rarity rating, and the odds of finding one at the end of your packs is actually pretty high. 2.857 percent, so more likely than a regular two-star card, but a lot less likely than a regular one-star card. Both of the new rarities also qualify for god packs, or rare packs, where every single card has a rarity of one star or higher. Still waiting on my first one of those.

There is one other shiny card added via Shining Revelry that doesn’t have any rarity attached, and that’s the Mewtwo ex. The shiny Mewtwo ex card, which has a similar design to the set’s shiny two-star rarity cards, can only be obtained by purchasing one of Pocket’s new bundles. I imagine that’s going to cause a stir in the coming hours as more players learn about the card and the only way you can get it.
