Peacemaker Star Previews Season 2

Peacemaker Season 2 is right around the corner. The show starring one of the DC Comics favorite anti-heroes is officially the second series that will debut under James Gunn’s new DCU, even though it technically was originally part of the DCEU and even featured the stars of the Justice League in the first season of Peacemaker‘s finale. Now that the next season is just a few months away, one of the HBO Max streaming series’ stars is previewing a bit of what fans can expect.

The story of the first season of Peacemaker seems to have wrapped up nicely as the titular character and a rag tag band of government agents stopped the invasion of the planet by small insect-like aliens that were dubbed “Butterflies.” While the Butterflies seemed relatively harmless at first glance, they were able to inhabit the bodies of human beings and take them over entirely, killing the host in the process. It turned out that one of the group, Clemson Murn was a member of the alien race who put together the Peacemaker task force in order to safe Earth. Now that it’s safe, there’s obvious questions about what comes next.

There have been a number of characters confirmed for Peacemaker Season 2 but one was just confirmed, much to the pleasure of fans.

Peacemaker Season 2 Gets A New Preview

Danielle Brooks features in the recurring role of Leota Adebayo in Peacemaker, the daughter of Amanda Waller. She’s also starring in the upcoming Minecraft movie and it was during a press tour to promote that film that she talked to Collider a bit about what fans can expect of the upcoming Max series’ second season. Unsurprisingly, she wasn’t willing to share a ton of details or spoil any of the plot details that are being kept very under wraps. However she did want to make sure that Peacemaker fans knew that she’s excited for them to see it. “It will not disappoint,” she told the publication. “I will not disappoint. It has a lot of heart in it this season, I think, and it has a great opening. James [Gunn] is so good.”

One of the things that has made Peacemaker so popular is the very interesting way the show always opens. The dance number with the entire cast immediately grabbed eyeballs and Brooks said that the dance number is getting a tweak for Season 2. When she was asked what it was like to have to learn the new dance moves, Brooks mentioned that she “had a lot of choreography” to learn. She added that she feels like she spent “a lot of time with the choreographer because it was intense.”

There is one tidbit that is known about Peacemaker Season 2. Frank Grillo will appear as one of the new characters in the show and he’ll be coming over first from the animated Creature Commandos and then the Superman movie due out this summer. He’s expected to be at odds with Peacemaker since the titular character killed Rick Flagg Jr., Grillo’s character’s son. Whether that will be the main conflict of Season 2 is not known.

Peacemaker Season 2 will debut in August of 2025.
