Summary
- Bosch: Legacy’s explosive final season starts with intrigue and danger for Harry Bosch and his daughter Maddie.
- The investigation into Bosch’s involvement in a murder leads to tension and confrontations in the first episode.
- A dramatic ending sees Bosch chasing a suspect who ends up taking drastic action, leaving Maddie and Vasquez to deal with the aftermath.
The long wait is over. Bosch: Legacy‘s final season kicked off in style with its first four thrilling episodes. The first episode catches up with the retired detective eight months after that tense cliffhanger that saw Maddie intercept a collect call from Preston Borders, claiming Bosch was involved in the hit on Kurt Dockweiler. Jimmy Robertson and his new partner, Lopez, are assigned to the case, while Honey ‘Money’ Chandler hires Bosch to protect her at an event, when it becomes clear there might be a threat to her life from an old adversary. Elsewhere, Maddie and Vasquez investigate a series of follow home robberies.
It’s an explosive return to action for Harry Bosch, and the perfect set up for what looks like a much darker entry in the long-running saga. The cancelation of Bosch: Legacy has loomed large over the third season, with lots of behind-the-scenes drama, and Amazon’s promotional push has been overshadowed by the campaign to save the show. However, Harry Bosch is back on television screens and that is ultimately good news, and the fans are overjoyed.

The episode begins eight months after the Bosch: Legacy season 2 cliffhanger, with Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers) addressing an audience on the campaign trail in her bid to become District Attorney of Los Angeles. Next up, Jimmy Robertson (Paul Calderon) is assigned to investigate Harry Bosch’s potential involvement in Kurt Dockweiler’s death. Turns out, Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz) never reported the collect call she intercepted from Preston Borders (Chris Browning) and this potentially puts her in the crossfire too. Robertson isn’t convinced Bosch is responsible for the murder, and the investigation is strictly on the DL, with his current detective partner, Agent Lopez (Miles Gaston Villanueva), also on board.
Harry Bosch is re-introduced in Bosch: Legacy season 3, as he puffs on a cigarette in the L.A. night, as a mysterious figure approaches him. His name is Curtis Dignan, an ex-con who has information for Bosch that comes directly from Wasco State Prison where Preston Borders is currently serving a life term, and significantly, where Kurt Dockweiler was killed. Turns out, Bosch helped Dignan get out of prison with a good recommendation, and in return, he is providing inside information on the Dockweiler case. Elsewhere, Maddie and her partner, Reina Vasquez respond to a report of a brutal follow home robbery in a posh neighborhood, while a face from the past, Frank Sheehan, turns up at Honey Chandler’s campaign office, claiming he wants to volunteer, but it’s clear he has ulterior motives.
Bosch and Maddie are out for lunch when Robertson and Lopez turn up to make their presence known, without actively stating why they are there. Bosch and Maddie briefly discuss the Dockweiler case, and Bosch once again denies having any involvement in it, like he did on that day eight months ago. After this, Chandler calls Bosch to enlist his help with the Sheehan incident. Tech whizz, Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi, reveals that Sheehan has been stalking Chandler on her campaign trail. Bosch tracks Sheehan down to Harry Callahan’s hardware, where he is now working after serving his sentence. They talk, and Bosch figures he’s up to something. Elsewhere, Chandler is demanding more back-up from the police for an upcoming charity fundraiser she’s attending, but they are less than pleased about providing it, as she’s recently ruffled a few feathers in the department.

Did Harry Bosch Protect Chandler From An Assassination Attempt?
Fan favorites, Crate and Barrel, (Troy Evans and Gregory Scott Cummins) are staking out Sheehan’s accommodation, and inform Bosch that the ‘eagle has left the eerie’, which gives him and Mo Bassi the go ahead to enter, and they fish around for clues, but they don’t find much. However, they figure Sheehan is planning to leave this world and potentially take others with him as he recently got rid of all his belongings. Meanwhile, Robertson and Lopez discover that Borders used a burner phone to call someone located in the Hollywood Hills, and who lives there? Harry Bosch.
Bosch is providing security detail at Chandler’s fundraiser, where he is backed up by Maddie and Vasquez and an overall limited police presence. Crate and Barrel are still providing surveillance on Sheehan’s residence, and Bosch urges them to knock on his door to see if he’s still there. No answer, so Crate breaks the door down, and Sheehan is nowhere to be seen. Turns out, Sheehan is at the charity event, and sets up a gun on a nearby rooftop. The gun fires multiple shots, but it’s a diversion, so Sheehan can get closer to Chandler. The episode ends with Bosch chasing Sheehan, and when he gets the jump on him, he pleads with him to hand himself in. However, Sheehan shoots himself, as Maddie and Vasquez arrive on the scene.
