The First Berserker: Khazan Review
The First Berserker: Khazan is a challenging and incredibly rewarding Soulslike with intense action and memorable boss fights.
Unfortunately, those same fans champing at the bit for a taste of the game will have to be aware of a potentially frustrating issue that developer Neople warned about in a Khazan Steam page update. According to the warning, players who play will have to be aware of an issue where they can actually lose stat points when using an item called the Primeval Regression Orb with certain armor sets equipped. The Primeval Regression Orb is a special item that resets the player character’s level and stats. Level resets or respecs are a popular feature in RPGs, allowing fans a do-over for important stat allocations and build choices.
Early The First Berserker: Khazan Bug Causes Issues With Respecs and Stat Gains
The main issue with The First Berserker: Khazan Primeval Regression Orb bug is that players resetting their level while wearing the The First Berserker: Khazan pre-order armor and weapon set can actually lose stat points. The bug also causes issues with stats not reflecting correctly in the status screen, which affects the cost of upgrading those stats with the in-game Lacrima resource. In some cases, stats can even drop below the minimum level of 10. According to Neople, the bug is related to the fact that the pre-order set (called the Hero’s Weapon and Armor) gives a flat 5-point bonus to all stats when equipped. Unfortunately, using a Primeval Regression Orb to repeatedly set one’s level with the bonus active causes the game to misinterpret the player’s stats, recalculating them as lower than they should be.
Thankfully, Neople also provided a fairly precise temporary workaround for the issue and warned players to avoid using Primeval Regression Orbs in quick succession to avoid the bug. Neople suggested completing missions, moving to a different area, and even restarting the game between uses of the Orb to ensure the game calculates players’ stats accordingly when resetting. In the meantime, Neople said that it’s working on a permanent resolution and will announce more details when it’s ready.
With all the hype and excitement surrounding the release of The First Berserker: Khazan, it’s good to see that Neople is on top of this and other The First Berserker: Khazan early access bugs. With luck, the studio will resolve the issues quickly and allow players to enjoy the game with minimal disruption.
