Neil Druckmann Calls Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet ‘Incredible’

Druckmann added that he’s excited to share more about gameplay for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The trailer that capped off The Game Awards 2024 showed off in-game cinematics captured on the PlayStation 5 and informed the audience about Jordan A. Mun’s journey, setting up the stakes. It pointed out that Jordan appears to be estranged from her crew of bounty hunters, and she’s chasing Colin Graves, played by Kumail Nanjiani. The rest is largely under wraps. The next time gamers see Intergalactic, there’s a chance that Naughty Dog might focus more on gameplay.

In the short conversation, Druckmann hinted that what players have seen so far is just the “very, very, very tip on the iceberg.” He emphasized that “the game goes pretty deep beyond that.” The long cinematic trailer shows that Naughty Dog appears to be tackling a dense story. It also nods to the idea that gameplay will feature melee combat, going off of the clip of Jordan jumping into battle with a sword. Recent updates have compared Intergalactic to Elden Ring, suggesting that the game will allow plenty of room for exploration, allowing players to spend more time in the world compared to the linear path the studio’s recent games are closer to. Naughty Dog fans are eagerly anticipating seeing more of Intergalactic.
