What Horror Movies Are Leaving Netflix In April 2025?
According to What’s Leaving Netflix, IT: Chapter One is leaving Netflix on April 1st, 2025. Then, Scream 5 is leaving on April 11th, 2025. Netflix subscribers will no longer be able to watch two other great horror movies: A Quiet Place: Part II is leaving April 12th, 2025 and Hereditary is leaving on April 15th, 2025.
These four horror movies are some of the most exciting and compelling releases of the past decade. Many horror fans appreciate the franchise Scream since the 1996 original inspired several creepy stories about masked killers haunting teenager characters. The franchise also deconstructs the slasher genre, and fans look forward to the smart dialogue picking apart tropes and storylines. Stephen King’s fans appreciate the horror/sci-fi/fantasy writer’s huge body of work and are always intrigued by upcoming adaptations, including the Netflix remake of Cujo.
IT: Chapter One, which was released in 2017 and the 2019 sequel, IT: Chapter Two, explore classic Stephen King themes of growing up, family problems, supernatural elements, and life in a small town. As the members of the Losers Club face dark memories and the unforgettable villain Pennywise the Dancing Clown, who will be featured in the HBO Max prequel IT: Welcome to Derry, IT: Chapter One is a powerful, meaningful, and moving story. Scream 5 was released in 2022 and brought back final girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), whose book tour saw her return to Woodsboro, California only to find a new Ghostface ready and waiting for her.
A Quiet Place: Part II was released in 2020 and tells the tragic but uplifting story of Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt) raising her kids and moving through a world that has been taken over by creatures who hunt by sound. Finally, Ari Aster’s Hereditary was released in 2018 and tells a bleak tale about a family’s descent into darkness. Toni Collette goes on a horrifying journey as a wife and mother named Annie, and the ending of the movie is hard to forget. After Hereditary came out to rave reviews, Aster became a horror filmmaker to watch and has also made similarly dark films such as Midsommar and Beau is Afraid.
Scream (2022), IT: Chapter One, A Quiet Place: Part II, and Hereditary may focus on characters of different ages and in different situations. But these four excellent horror movies all tell stories about characters who are facing tragic and difficult pasts.
Where Can Horror Fans Watch Scream 5, IT: Chapter One, A Quiet Place Part 2 And Hereditary?
Although these excellent horror movies are leaving Netflix in April 2025, there are still some places where horror fans can watch them. Scream (2022) and A Quiet Place: Part II are streaming on Paramount+, IT: Chapter One is streaming on Max, and fans can rent Hereditary on AppleTV. IT: Chapter Two is also on Max so fans can watch both as a double feature.
Although there are no more IT movies in development and there is no Hereditary sequel, the Scream and A Quiet Place franchises are still going strong. Scream 7 will be released on February 27th, 2026 and will see the return of beloved characters such as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding), and Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown). Fans are eager to find out how characters like Dewey Riley (David Arquette) can possibly come back. After the prequel A Quiet Place: Day One was released in 2024, a third movie was announced, and audiences will see more of this gripping and grim story.
In 2018, writer/director John Krasinski gave an interview to Deadline along with Emily Blunt and he talked about working on A Quiet Place: Part II. Based on his comments, fans can get even more excited about A Quiet Place 3. He said:
“We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it. The reason I decided to go back, in the end, was this world is so rich, and it’s so much fun to explore.”
