Some of the most unique characters in Warframe
are Protoframes. These human/Warframe hybrids make up the main cast of the Hex Syndicate, a ragtag group of soldiers who are stuck in the year 1999. Not only are these characters potential companions in Hollvania content, but they’re also usable skins for certain Warframes.

Techrot Encore has added a few more Protoframes to the mix. Most can speak with Flare immediately upon login, but some of the other Protoframes require slightly more work to speak with. Let’s go over how to unlock access to each new Protoframe in this update, and we’ll quickly cover how to get each Protoframe Gemini skin.
How To Speak With Minerva And Velimir
Minerva and Velimir are the two main Protoframes added in the Techrot Encore update. You can find them in the bar on the bottom-left corner of the mall. If you can’t find it, open up the escape menu and head to “Navigation” to fast travel to them.
To actually talk to the couple, you’ll need to be Rank 5 with the
Hex Syndicate
. Trying to talk to them before you achieve max rank will do nothing. At max rank, they’ll introduce themselves and grant access to their respective shops. Minnerva sells Scaldra weapon blueprints; Velimir sells cosmetic goods for your Orbiter.
How To Speak To Kaya
Kaya is the main vendor for
Temporal Archimedea content
, 1999’s main endgame activity. You can find her outside the bar Minerva and Velimir are in. As with those Protoframes, you’ll need to be at Rank 5 with the Hex to speak with her. You don’t need to have Archimedea unlocked in Deimos to play Temporal Archimedea.
Unlocking Protoframe Skins
If you’re interested in playing as a Protoframe yourself, you can get all Protoframe Gemini skins from the in-game market for Platinum, Warframe’s premium currency. You can either get Platinum through purchasing the currency directly or through trading with other players.
As of the Techrot Encore update, there are ten Protoframe Gemini skins up for grabs.
Each Gemini skin costs 275 Platinum.
