However, the game also allows you to add all these creatures to your Hideout by gradually unlocking them. So, this guide will show you how to unlock the pets and then add them to your Hideout in AC Shadows.

How to Unlock Pets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Players will encounter various animals in the open world that they can unlock as pets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As much as players would want to take a pet with them all the time while exploring Feudal Japan, there’s no such mechanic in the game besides petting them. Here are all the methods that players can use to unlock various animals as pets in the Hideout.

  • Petting animals in the open world, mostly inside shrines, temples, and villages.
  • Buying pets from the Ornament Vendor located inside various villages.
  • Completing random open-world Sumi-E paintings whenever there’s an animal nearby. There’s a high chance the painted animal will be unlocked as a pet.

How to Add Pets to the Hideout

To place/add pets to your Hideout, players will need to enter the build mode and add the animals manually in AC Shadows. After going into the build mode, switch to the animals tab and select the particular animal you want to add as a pet to the Hideout.

Once the animal is selected, you can choose from any number of the free spaces to place the animal. Yes, you can add duplicate animals to your Hideout, however, there’s a limit of 30 total animals currently.
