They show that the world has tons of depth and personality, which adds to the immersion. What makes the immersion richer are the random encounters, like riddles that appear in the game. The one that sticks out the most is the Seashell Riddle, and by reading this guide, you can find the solution.
How To Solve The Seashell Riddle
To increase the chance of this event popping up, you need to be in Katano, which is north of Osaka in the Izumi Settsu region. You’ll also need to get past the prologue of the game.
Once you’re there, navigate toward the Katano Kakurega Hideout. It should be in the northern section of Katano.
Because of the event’s random nature, it might not show up if you’re playing the game in Canon Mode.
When you approach the hideout, an old noblewoman will either be outside of it or nearby, roaming around. As you get closer to her, she’ll call out to you. When you interact with the old lady, she’ll show you her seashells.
Additionally, her looks (her age) and the color of the Kimono she’s wearing might be different every time she appears. Just keep an ear out for her to call out to you when you’re close to the hideout.
Make sure you’re playing as Naoe, as the old lady seems to show up when Yaskue is not in control.
Upon presenting you with the seashells, the old lady will ask you which province the seashells come from. There are three options to pick from. They are: It is from Kyoto, it must be from Omi, and I believe it’s from Wakasa.
The correct answer will be the third option: I believe it’s from Wakasa.
Rewards For Solving The Seashell Riddle
Answering and solving the riddle is worth your time. You get two choices to pick from, and both options are useful depending on what your needs are.
After getting the right answer, you can either refill a Scout Circle or you’ll earn a World Rumor. Filling the Scout Circle isn’t necessary because it only costs around 200 Mon. On the other hand, picking the World Rumor might be a better idea.
Since the riddle is based in the Katano, the World Rumor will be in the same city. By picking the second option, you’ll discover the World Rumor is the Butterfly Collector. It’ll be west of Katano Castle.
This side mission is worthwhile mainly because it’s one of the more unique missions in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
