How To Play As Uryu Ishida In Bleach Rebirth Of Souls

Zoning has been a core mechanic in fighting games since the genre’s inception, and the main character to embody that archetype in Bleach Rebirth of Souls is none other than Uryu Ishida. As a marksman, he controls the battlefield by applying pressure from a safe distance, forcing the opponent to close the gap and, consequently, suffer a couple of wounds in doing so.

Unlike zoning characters in other games, Uryu is still capable at medium and close range. With quick melee attacks that directly transition into high-damage projectiles, he can be lethal at almost any range. If you’re a fan of the archetype, this character does it better than anyone, and learning his tricks and buttons can be extremely advantageous.

Uryu Ishida In Offline And Online Matches

Uryu Ishida firing a Quincy Arrow in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

Uryu’s expertise lies in creating space to constantly deal chip damage while laying down traps in case the opponent gets too close. When you’re at decent range, you can shamelessly spam Heavy Shots — once one of them hits the target, immediately follow it up with a Flash Step, and end the combo with Quincy Arrow.

The Quincy Arrow, in general, is an exceptional ender that chains with any Quick Attack or Flash Attack combo, but it’s worth noting that a Quick Attack starter combo will have harsher damage scaling.

Even at close range, Uryu isn’t always vulnerable. His first Quick Attack is a melee strike that forces the opponent to block, setting them up for a sneaky Seeleschneider to counter greedy comebacks and activating Reishi Concentration State.

To make things sweeter, the buffs you get while in the Concentration State are certainly worth it; the damage boosts are great for your combos and even let you reach your Awakened state much faster. Also, the higher arrow count with Licht Regen and Heavy Shot results in an increased chance of connecting your shots.

Still, your game plan should just be to stay far, whittle down opponents with chip damage via Heavy Shot, and always reserve at least 100 Spiritual Power for a backup Seeleschneider.

Awakened Uryu Ishida In Offline And Online Matches

Uryu Ishida firing a giant blue arrow in his Awakened state in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

The Awakened state is essentially just normal Uryu with higher damage output and Spiritual Power gain, although it’s a little disappointing that he doesn’t get many new moves here. The fundamentals and key moves remain intact — Heavy Shot, Quincy Arrow, and Seeleschneider — but the higher Spiritual Power buildup means you can perform your Spiritual Pressure moves more often.

One of the biggest things you’ll notice during Awakening is the Flash Attacks and how absurdly lethal they’ve become. A full Flash Attack combo now deals 46 percent more damage, translating into an extra 1,000 HP loss when paired with the Quincy Arrow. Furthermore, while the Quick Attack combo didn’t receive as dramatic a bonus, it compensates by building up 23 Spiritual Power instead of 17.

In most instances, it’s better to use your Kikon Move as Sprengen over Swift Arrow if you’re looking to kill your opponents with just two Kikon Moves in total.

There’s a good chance you’ll enter the Awakened state with the opponent having five Konpaku or fewer, so you’ll want to reserve your finisher rather than allowing a potential comeback.

Reawakened Uryu Ishida In Offline And Online Matches

Uryu Ishida firing a swarm of arrows in the sky in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

Aside from the ridiculous damage buffs, what truly makes Uryu’s Reawakened state different from his Awakened and base states is one thing: unilateral ranged attacks. Instead of three arrows shooting in different directions, they now converge into a single point, making each direct hit deal three times the damage.

It’s also why your full combo exceeds 5,000 damage, meaning two of them (totaling two Reverse Gauge bars and 100 Spiritual Power) can take out an entire Konpaku. This state is the definition of overcommitment in a good way, and it’s undoubtedly a game-changer because of how effortlessly it tears through health bars.

Uryu’s full combo is a Quick Attack starter transitioning into a Flash Attack combo, finishing with a Flash Step and a Quincy Arrow, respectively.

The optimal strategy with Reawakened is to rely on Seeleschneider. Everyone knows how dangerous Uryu is at this stage, so they’ll try to chip away at your HP as they get closer. You can counter that tactic by pulling off successful Seeleschneider attacks and following them up with Flash Step and Quincy Arrow.
