As with all sports, baseball is often ruled by a select few elite players. Everyone who is able to play in the major leagues is replete with talent, but there are still some who are able to set themselves apart from the rest, serving as measuring sticks to evaluate other players’ abilities.

MLB The Show 25: Diamond Quest, Explained
Here’s everything you need to know about Diamond Quest in MLB The Show 25.
MLB The Show 25 lets you take on some of these outstanding players in their Showdown mode. Whether they’re all-time legends or contemporary superstars, you’ll be given the opportunity to prove your (digital) superiority. Succeeding will net you both rewards, letting you build your Diamond Dynasty squad and fill out Programs.
What Is The Showdown Draft?
Unlike other Diamond Dynasty modes, you won’t be using the squad you’ve collected through card packs in Showdowns. Instead, you’ll be presented with a draft, where you can select which players you would like to use from those available. After picking players, you’ll also be given a few perks to choose from, which you can equip to make progression easier.
Completing encounters will earn you the opportunity to draft better players and perks to your squad for the remainder of the mode.
What Is The Showdown Progression?
After forming your squad, Showdowns will present you with a linear series of encounters, leading up to a final boss.
You’ll notice that there’s a scoreboard on the right side of the screen, showing that your team is losing a game by a substantial number of runs. This is the score you’ll be presented with when you enter the Final Showdown, but completing standard encounters will add runs to your starting score, making the last confrontation that much easier.
If you really want to challenge yourself, you can skip to the Final Showdown at any point in your run.
Be on the lookout for Mini Bosses as you progress. These encounters will be marked with red icons. Failing to beat them will end your Showdown run and force you to start over.
What Is The Final Showdown?
Once you make it to the Final Showdown, it’s time to topple the boss. Assuming you cleared every previous encounter, your run deficit should be completely manageable. Practice patience at the plate, wait for your pitch, and knock in any remaining runs you need to finish the mode.
Winning a Showdown will earn you different rewards based on which one you choose to partake in, including card packs, players, stubs, and Program progression.
