Guide To Iansan Build And Talent Priority In Genshin Impact

Every time Genshin Impact gets a new update, it comes with two phases of gacha banners where you can pull for multiple four-star and five-star characters. However, if you’ve been playing the game for a while, building a four-star character isn’t usually worth it since you likely have a better five-star counterpart.

You can significantly increase the overall damage dealt by Varesa if you use one of these weapons on her in Genshin Impact.

Surprisingly, that isn’t the case for Iansan, a four-star Electro character released in the Version 5.5 update. After getting a good Iansan Build, this is one of the strongest four-star supports compared with the likes of Bennett, and there’s good reason for that.

The best part about Iansan being a four-star is that even if you don’t get her on the first banner, you can passively pull her and her constellations with time. This, along with the future-proof kit makes Iansan worth building with one of her best artifact sets and weapons.

Main Support Iansan Build

After going through Iansan’s kit even once, you’ll quickly realize that this character has no real DPS potential, and is best used as a support for units that deal high damage based on their ATK. You have a couple of builds on Iansan that let you do that, but the best one is the one mentioned above.

To get the most value from Iansan, you can use the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set with either Engulfing Lightning or Favonius Lance as the weapon. This will let you gain enough Energy for her to have a 100 percent uptime on her Elemental Burst, which is the most crucial part of her rotation.

The general rotation for Iansan and how she benefits the team is discussed below.

With the Scroll set, you can get extra Energy on two-piece when a party member triggers Nightsoul Burst, which can be done by Iansan herself. Furthermore, you can increase your party members’ damage by 40 percent when you trigger an elemental reaction while in the Nightsoul state.

The damage bonus is only provided for the elements involved in the reaction, which is something to keep in mind if you’re using Iansan with a main DPS from a non-Electro element. With Engulfing Lightning, you can get a massive boost to Iansan’s Energy Recharge while also increasing her ATK based on her ER.

Alternatively, you can use Favonius Lance to get more particles with an Energy Recharge secondary stat. Of course, the value you get with the four-star will be lesser than Engulfing Lightning, but it’s also not possible to have every five-star weapon.

If you’re just starting out with Genshin Impact, it’ll take you quite a while to get to the point where you can start farming the Scroll artifact set above. In that case, you can use the Noblesse Oblige artifact set on Iansan as a placeholder, though you’d still want to switch to the Scroll set eventually.

Noblesse increases Iansan’s Elemental Burst DMG while also raising the overall ATK she can provide with it since the four pieces of this set add an extra 20 percent. Alternatively, you can also use the Tenacity of the Millelith set to get a similar ATK bonus while losing the Elemental Burst DMG.

Tamayuratei no Ohanashi is an event-exclusive weapon in Genshin Impact, and you won’t be able to get it anymore if you don’t already have it.

Similarly, if you don’t have the two weapons mentioned in the main build, you can use either Skyward Spine or the Tamayuratei no Ohanashi as a placeholder until you can get Favonius Lance. However, Skyward Spine at refinement one will give you more value than Favonius on the same refinement.

Iansan Artifact Stat Priority

You can equip a total of five different artifacts while building Iansan in Genshin Impact, and each one has its own main and sub-stats. You only need four of these from the same set, so you have the option to have an off-piece. The main and sub-stats you should choose for Iansan are as follows:

Type

Main Stat Priority

Sub Stat Priority

Flower

HP

ATK Percent > Energy Recharge > Crit Rate

Feather

ATK

ATK Percent > Energy Recharge > Crit Rate

Sands

ATK Percent/Energy Recharge

ATK Percent > Energy Recharge > Crit Rate

Goblet

ATK Percent

Energy Recharge > Crit Rate

Circlet

ATK Percent

Energy Recharge > Crit Rate

You only need to look for Crit Rate if you’re using the Favonius Lance weapon. However, it’s good to have some Crit on Iansan in general.

Especially since you don’t need a lot of other stats on her.

The best part about Iansan coming from Natlan is that she has special Nightsoul mechanics. While in her Nightsoul state, Iansan can run at a much higher speed while also being able to jump high. This already makes her quite a good character for overworld exploration since your travel is faster.

Other than that, Iansan takes very little time on the field while easily being able to have 100 percent uptime on her abilities and buffs, which makes her great for endgame modes as well. Here’s everything you need to know about her abilities:

  • Iansan’s Elemental Burst is the bread-and-butter of her kit as it creates a special effect that follows your active character. As long as this effect stays on the field, the active character can get a high ATK boost based on the number of Nightsoul points Iansan has.
  • Iansan can stay in Nightsoul state even when she’s off-field, though she constantly loses Nightsoul points. You can gain these points back on her by making the active character move around as much as possible. It’s important to keep her Nightsoul points over 42.

Vertical movement also counts for Iansan and she can gain Nightsoul points from it as well.

  • Her Elemental Skill gives her maximum Nightsoul points while also giving her a free use of the Nightsoul charged attack. This attack applies the Precise Movement effect, giving her extra ATK and better Nightsoul regeneration.

While using Iansan in your team, all you have to do is use her Skill, basic attack, and then the Elemental Burst before switching off the field. If you have enough Energy Recharge, you’ll get her Burst back by the time you switch to her again. Keep in mind that the ATK boost you get is much higher when your Nightsoul points are above 42.

When Iansan isn’t the active character, you can see her Nightsoul points as a separate bar below her HP on the right side. You’ll see this bar actively reducing and increasing, and you can tell if you’re below 42 by looking at the icon to the top-right of your character in the middle of the screen.

It becomes a lot easier to keep Iansan at high Nightsoul points once you get her constellation four.

Iansan Talent Priority

Now that you understand Iansan’s kit, it’s also obvious that her Elemental Burst is the priority for upgrades as you get all the main buffs from this character with it. After that, you can upgrade her Skill up to level six or eight and completely ignore her Basic Attack.

When you get higher constellations, you won’t even need to use her Basic Attack since the Precise Movement effect can be applied with her Burst once you have the second constellation.
