Doomsday Cast Members Who Haven't Been Announced Yet

Summary

  • Avengers: Doomsday has already announced 26 cast members, but a report suggests there’s still more to come.
  • The specifics of these announcements are unknown.
  • Dr Doom is expected to appear in a post-credits scene in the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps movie.

Marvel Studios recently announced that it has begun production on Avengers: Doomsday, the first Avengers film since 2019’s mega-hit Avengers: Endgame. During a five-hour live stream, Marvel Studios announced 26 different cast members for the upcoming movie.

The announcements featured members of the titular Avengers, the respective casts of the upcoming Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four movies, and several cast members from the Fox-produced X-Men film series, which began with X-Men (2000). The full list of announced cast members can be seen here.

This announcement already promises a bumper cast, but according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, there’s still even more to come. Given how many characters the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced over the past decade-and-a-half, and given how many characters appeared in Avengers: Endgame, you can imagine just how many more actors could be participating in Avengers: Doomsday in some capacity. Who exactly these additional cast members are is open to speculation, but anyone alive and kicking in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline is a candidate.

This sentiment is summed up by a quote from the Russo Brothers, co-directors of Doomsday, regarding how difficult it is to keep track of every character in the film series: “Now [baseball cards featuring every character] have magnets on ’em so we can put them on a board and look at ’em. It’s the only way to keep track of the amount of characters we’re working with,” said Joe Russo. “And as far as how do we look at who’s in the movies, it’s just a long creative process of exploring where we want to take the story. What is the most surprising and exciting area for us to push into, and which characters help us in that effort?” added Anthony Russo.

Avengers: Doomsday was born from the firing of Jonathan Majors, who was supposed to play an integral role in Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Marvel Studios pivoted towards a Dr. Doom-focused story, with Robert Downey Jr. returning to play the eponymous villain. Doom has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but is traditionally seen as the archenemy of The Fantastic Four. The character is expected to appear in a post-credits scene after the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps movie.

Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be released on May 1, 2026.
